Not exactly. Sanger left in 2002 and it hasn't been until 2017 that he joined Everipedia. He had been previously -since 2006- working on its own Wikipedia competitor: Citizendium, so definetly he didn't left for join Everipedia.
Good point, that is true. Though I did hear him say in an interview that at Citizendium he was trying to solve flaws he saw in Wikipedia. He hopes Everipedia will finally do it.
