HKEOS
We are a Hong Kong based EOS block producer candidate and the first DApps incubator.
Why us?
DApps incubation
We are convinced that the EOS blockchain will thrive through its builders. HKEOS will reuse any BP rewards to fund DApps and facilitate mass adoption. More DApps also mean more airdrops, and therefore benefits, to token holders.
Community support
We aim to facilitate access to EOS-related information and offering technical advice to anyone that wants to contribute. HKEOS will support all possible initiatives through events, information broadcasting and support.
Secured scalability
Block producers will be responsible for the security of the EOS blockchain. HKEOS will guarantee transparency throughout the process and strive to update the community consistently. An EOS block explorer and a dedicated wallet are some of our priorities.
Our Philosophy
We strongly believe that decentralized systems will continue to grow and revolutionize the way we live and work. We also believe that the EOS blockchain is the best solution to drive this change. Decentralized systems have clear advantages that will slowly overtake existing centralized networks:
- More secure
- Shared and spread knowledge
- Fast growth and constant mutation
- Strong community contribution
HKEOS will stay aligned to this philosophy by supporting open source, decentralized applications and products for the EOS community. Secured scalability HKEOS will use the majority of BP rewards to fund and help DApp developers on the EOS blockchain. Builders will be chosen by community votes on the HKEOS website and project advancements will be communicated regularly to the community. What we can provide:
- Space - partnerships with Garage Society and Blueprint, two leading co-working space providers in Hong Kong.
- Agile support for remote teams
- Recruitment
- Branding & design
- Communication
- Infrastructure - technical guidance
- Hardware
- Mentorship - from both the HKEOS team and external advisors
- Funding - co-investment alongside leading VCs

Infrastructure
Dual approach:
We will be using AWS for the main full node and set up backup nodes in different locations using bare metal servers. Locations: We will be hosting our virtual instances with the new AWS Hong Kong cloud infrastructure. The following cities are where HKEOS’ bare metal servers will be located. It is indicated below whether the cities will be involved for the EOS testnet or open later for expansion after the official launch of the mainnet.
- Hong Kong (testnet)
- Shenzhen (testnet)
- Shanghai (expansion)
Hardware Specifications Common Specs
- Operating System: Ubuntu 17.10
Current
Currently, HKEOS has set up a bare metal server for testing purposes. We are planning to set up another node in Shenzhen within a month. Dan Larimer described the Intel Core i7 ideal for current testnet purposes. If the server does not perform successfully on the testnet, it will be upgraded to higher standards immediately.
- Intel i7-8700K Processor
- Memory 32GB RAM (Upgradeable to 64GB RAM)
- 2TB Hard Disk (Storage), 120GB SSD
Our current server is connected to the Jungle3Testnet, the first instance of a Dawn 3 public testnet. We are planning to gain as much information as possible from our experience on community testnets to provide the ideal technological infrastructure for the launch of the main net in June. Standby/Elected Block Producer At HKEOS, we believe that the 21 elected producers and 100 standby producers are equally responsible for providing top notch infrastructure to make sure that EOS.IO is stable. Therefore, we will maintain the highest standards in either case. By the time the main net launches, we will have two Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) instances running as full EOS nodes. Therefore, if the primary block producing node fails, the secondary block producing node will immediately act as a backup, minimizing any occurrence of downtime.
- Nodes 2x EC2
- Virtual CPUs 128 Cores
- Memory 2TB RAM
- Storage 2x 1920GB SSD
Scaling Plans
HKEOS will scale hardware as needed. We have the financial resources and supply chain to do so. It’s fair to say that the EOS community is still in the process of figuring out what specifications may be required. By participating actively in the testnest we will know if we need to upgrade hardware before launch. SecurityTraffic screening and additional load balancing will be offered from one of the giant cloud operators, onward traffic will then be subject to boundary firewall and packet inspection services. We anticipate the need for detailed traffic plans for communications between the roles of the infrastructure such that Block Producers can freely communicate with other Block Producers. We will use the facilities of multiple peered ISPs to facilitate this solution. Further controls are also being explored for additional security screening as we scale.
