Well, that's exactly the use case you need for a super-hyped technology, to help it survive the hype: Bitfinex confirmed on their Medium account they will start building a decentralized system using EOS.
According to the source:
In order to continue pushing the boundaries of market leading services, EOSfinex will combine the scalability and speed of EOS.IO with Bitfinex’s industry-leading expertise to deliver an “on chain” exchange designed to offer a fast, transparent and trustless platform for the trading of digital assets.
Now, let's not forget who we're talking about here: @dan, who co-founded one of the first decentralized ledgers, OpenLedger, and Bitfinex, one of the largest exchanges in the world.
Given this, and also the financial power behind EOSIO, the project really has a lot of chances to be implemented and, if not to supersede some of the centralized exchanges out there, at least to make a very nice figure amongst them.
Really looking forward to this one and hope @dan will include STEEM from day one.
I'm a serial entrepreneur, blogger and ultrarunner. You can find me mainly on my blog at Dragos Roua where I write about productivity, business, relationships and running. Here on Steemit you may stay updated by following me @dragosroua.
Wanna know when you're getting paid?
I know the feeling. That's why I created steem.supply, an easy to use and accurate tool for calculating your Steemit rewards | |
This is really cool. We need these decentralized system really desperately. @dan is a super genius guy and we all hope he will work in the field of EOS and Steem.
After reading your article the first thing I did was check EOS prices and indeed it has been on the rise although not by much. Yet most top coins are in the red so decent pump in EOS. Starting to get the feeling this token/coin will be next big thing with crypto.
Decentralize exchanges are the need of hour... Glad to know that it is being built on EOS... Now we can confidently term EOS to be the biggest competitor for Ethereum...
Interesting, I was waiting for such exchange since long date, I believe this will save us many probelem in the future :)
I have mixed feelings.
Im even more bullish on EOS, but I really dislike Bitfinex for making it centralized.
yeah me too
@dan has been doing so much in the crypto space the past few years. Some big projects completed, some other big ones still in the works. Great stuff. You still holding a nice chunk of EOS?
I wouldn't say a "nice chunk". I'm just following a good advice a friend once gave me: "Buy $100 of every scam". Because you never know which one is scam and which one isn't. So definitely EOS isn't a scam, but I didn't buy much.
Nice post @dragosroua! Upvoted and resteemed it.
It is not too late to buy a "nice chunk".
I agree 100% that "...definitely EOS isn't a scam..." Dan Larimer's record speaks for itself with the creation of the very successful Bitshares DEX and Steemit.
For the record, I'm fairly sure that Ronny Boesing is the Founder of OpenLedger, which operates ON the Bitshares decentralized platform.
Just curious about the remark. It is to split DEX from OpenLedger?
There is no split. The Bitshares DEX is an open source decentralized trading platform that OpenLedger has plugged into and created their own UIA (User Issued Assets) that can be and are traded ON Bitshares. Does that clear it up for you @scorer?
I know what it is. I was more interested in the remark part. I will rephrase the question.
Do you think that OpenLedger is a scam?
Forgive me for misunderstanding your question. No, I don't think OpenLedger is a scam, at all, in any shape or form.
yup, solid advice for sure. It is nice with Steem, being able to reinvest all the SBD and SP you earn trough posting. I'd like to get my account somewhere closer to yours in terms of SP accrued, just slow and steady though.
The more decentralized exchanges we have the safer everyone is, we don't want another Mt. Gox happening and if @dan is behind it you can trust it will have talent behind it! The only thing that worries me is the whole Tether deal with Bitfinex.
I didn't want to mention this in my article, but it's definitely worrying. Let's hope this won't collude with the new exchange.
Woooow, this sounds awesome! I knew there were plenty of technologies coming along on blockchain and similar technologies, but a whole exchange? That would have never occurred to me. Let's hope the best for this :))) I'm really excited to check out the underlying processes for the system.
Keeping the EOS hype alive
This is very exciting news. Decentralised exchanges will be so awesome if they can get them right. Teaming up with an existing exchange is a very clever idea. I believe we are going to see so many more large industry leading companies embracing and exploring the benefits of blockchain technology within their industries to solve issues.
Platform coins like EOS are sooo important for the long-term future of cryptocurrencies. @dan, you have already done so much for development of cryptocurrency, I have faith that you and your team at EOS are going to be major players in the next generation of cryptocurrencies and am so looking forward to seeing more and more exciting new partnerships being announced for the EOS platform.
they are looking into the future and block chain is the future tech and a decentralised exchange is something new and good, hope they succeed
I don't really like the name, nor the fact this involves Bitfinex... also EOS is already around $9, I wouldn't suggest investing now...BitShares have the working product OpenLedger.io and you can be a stakeholder by buying OBITS...
Wow!
This is cool!
I am happy to know it was built on EOS
Your writing is really a beautiful and clean mind telling you, your mind is like a great mountain and sea as a liberal.
Top post....
Your post is very wise and useful for all steemians one of them is me
Always success @dragosroua
ah...good point.
if he includes Steem then I'll no longer be faced with the dilema of not owing any EOS..
We must all realize that we could definitely use better exchanges than Poloniex, HitBTC, Etc... if this can do better than either of these, of course it has a chance.
Decentralised exchanges is what all we need :)
there is already few existing. Guess what-they almost dead. people too dumb to use decentralized exchanges. they need support and so on where they can cry to.
I REALLLLY DONT LIKE THAT SCAMMER COMPANY CALLED BITFINEX. Im afraid they will ruin EOS reputation.
waiting for such kind of something to happen
glad to read this @dragosroua
