EOS GO Check mark 3.) Estimate of technical specifications and total expenditure for resources by June 3, 2018 - posted to Steem Blockchain.

Please see this page on our website for the current published technical specifications and proposed network topology
https://eosuk.io/tech-specs/

Currently we are testing various equipment and the published specification is subject to change as we gather more data from this testing. The final go live hardware specifications will be published prior to launch.

We are operating within our estimated budget for the launch hardware of £20,000 + VAT for the period 1st April - June 30th 2018

EOS GO Check mark 4.) Estimated scaling plan for hardware after June 3, 2018 - posted to Steem Blockchain.

You will notice that we have opted for a slightly higher specification for the launch servers than may necessarily be required, we made this decision for two reasons. Firstly the initial load on the servers at launch is completely unknown at this time, although estimates could be made from testing, and so to ensure our Block Production is as robust as possible we have over estimated the potential demand for resources at launch and whilst there is always the opportunity to invest more funding in hardware when Block Rewards are being earned, we recognise that any downtime to implement expansion will always introduce the potential for error and problems. So by taking the launch specification a few grades higher than what might be considered a basic minimum, we hope to expand the longevity of our initial spec beyond the first scaling point. This is to alleviate any pressures to upgrade immediately during the critical post launch period.

Therefore Block Rewards are not a factor in funding the initial scaling. Once scaling plans are activated the infrastructure will be built both vertically and horizontally in line with demand and growth. This plan is being developed in terms of time, cost and benefit to the solution. Scaling plans with Space Data Centres are in place to massively scale both hardware and bandwidth at very short notice when required.

EOS GO Check mark 5.) Community benefit project outline, only for projects expected to be public by June 3, 2018 - posted to Steem Blockchain.

EOS UK are providing community benefit primarily in two areas

  • Meetups - Our community support initiatives include running the EOS UK Meetups and generally spearheading the EOS movement in the UK. Full details of our Meetups are available on the Meetups site linked below
    https://www.meetup.com/EOS-UK-Meetup/events/

  • EOS University – Promoting a Thriving a Blockchain Community.

Aside from reasonable salaries for all employees, and standard operating costs, all initial revenues will be funnelled back into our Block Production infrastructure to ensure the ultimate in resilience and performance is achieved.

However, when this goal is considered achieved and aggressive scaling plans activated to support future use of the network, the company will look to redirect some of its revenues from Block Production into a new EOS University initiative.

EOS University is a completely new and separate organisation currently being established by part of our team and will operate as an individual entity either as a UK based charity organisation or not for profit. The organisation will focus on off-chain education of the "next-next" generation in Computer Science, Government & Politics, Economics, and Business Studies, focussing on how these disciplines are being radically transformed through the use of Blockchain technologies and tokenisation.

Block Producer values, community project timeline, finances, transparency and other important topics demonstrating the direction and future of the candidacy

The number one objective of EOS UK is to be the best EOS Block Producer possible and to achieve this the following disciplines are being adhered to;

  • Transparency
  • Technical competence
  • Relevant experience
  • Passion for change
  • Community focused
  • Future orientated

Transparency

EOS UK together with the EOS network are looking to set high standards in Block Producer transparency. Within EOS the opportunity now exists to research the exact information about the organisations and individuals that are running the Blockchain and to use that information to inform your voting decision and to make a robust and secure Blockchain.

As a fully transparent organisation listed at Companies House in London, EOS UK are bound by UK law to publish annual accounts stating our profit and losses, assets and liabilities, and who the company is owned by and who runs the company. We also believe that Block Producers should be single ownership organisations so to avoid large whales owning multiple Block Producers and dominating and corrupting the EOS ethos of community control.

We believe it’s important for EOS Block Producers to be completely transparent to avoid collusion, corruption, and mismanagement.

Technical Competence

EOS UK is made up of a growing team of industry experts covering the key technical disciplines to ensure the EOS UK node is robust, secure, and scalable.

The EOS UK team have been working to assemble the next level of detail of the hardware specifications for our Block Producing infrastructure. We will continue to discuss with the Block Producer community the ideal specifications for a robust, secure, and scalable node.

Relevant Experience

EOS UK is the official Block Producer candidacy name of Advanta Productions Limited. Advanta is an Internet solutions provider founded by Roger Davies in 2004. For over 13 years Roger and his team have been gaining crucial experience vital to being a robust Block Producer. This experience has been gained in the field, working for real-world paying customers, with very high standards. In delivering web and infrastructure projects for countless commercial customers over the years the experience has been gained to deliver what’s needed as an EOS Block Producer.

Passion for Change

Like many within the EOS Community the need for change in the world is clear with the need for universal healthcare, income equality, education for all, and fairness being priorities. EOS can be the catalyst for change and EOS UK is passionate about helping to deliver the transformational potential inherent in EOS. EOS UK was born from a shared passion for wanting to make the world a better place through communities coming together, through technology and innovation, and through shared wisdom and knowledge. We see so many problems with the world today and believe that EOS can be the vehicle for a fairer more equitable world.

EOS UK is wholly and privately owned by a single limited company and has no equity partners, VC investors, or sleeping partners so the decision making is 100% focused (with no hidden agendas) on the success of the EOS Blockchain. We have no corporate shareholders to answer to or banks to drive decisions based on profit and shareholders. Incidentally we believe that one of the biggest problems with the world is that corporates have one objective ‘increase shareholder value’ – this drives greed and protectionist decision making to the detriment of the people. We are not driven by profit, so we will invest the vast majority of income raised from being a Block Producer back into Protecting and Nurturing the EOS Blockchain. As a team we have modest needs, so EOS UK is extremely efficient and effective.

Community Focused

EOS UK will as part of its candidacy and Block Production role look to initially promote the EOS philosophies and the benefits of using the network to the UK community and beyond through Meetups, information publishing, and collaboration with commercial and academic institutions.

We have also been so impressed by how welcoming and friendly the EOS community is and we are drawn to the philosophy of shared knowledge and understanding for shared benefit and growth for all. Being part of the EOS community is one of most exciting things about EOS.

Future Orientated

First and foremost, EOS UK is committed to producing blocks for the EOS Blockchain. However, we are in this space for the long term and realise the importance of supporting the growing EOS community. To that end we have committed to financially supporting the EOS University with a percentage of all block rewards.

This new venture has been set up by EOS UK but is a totally independent entity so as to not distract from our primary focus of block production. This independence enables other block producers to also support the project for the good of the EOS Blockchain if they so choose, and we encourage the EOS community to get involved to help share the knowledge about the potential of the EOS Blockchain.

EOS University has its own financial and staffing structure. EOS UK is committed to funding the project for the next three years or until it becomes self sufficient. EOS UK will have no input on the day to day running of the University and will not commit any other resources that may distract from the primary role of being a block producer.

EOS GO Check mark 8.) 2 - Position on Dividends (The sharing of Block Producer inflation rewards with unaffiliated voters, AKA "vote buying.")

2nd new checkmark (to be considered check mark 8 when appended to 6 existing checkmarks)

Please describe the block producer candidate's stance on sharing inflation rewards and/or paying dividends to EOS token holders.

  • Will the organization offer payment to EOS token voters for any reason, including BP elections AND worker proposals?

No. EOS UK has a clear policy on investment of profits and inflation rewards back into making the EOS UK node as robust, secure, and scalable as possible. It’s clear and stated here by EOS UK that Block Rewards will NOT ever be paid to EOS token holders in return for votes.

EOS UK takes a strong and consistent stance on vote buying as we believe that vote buying goes against the core philosophies of EOS.

  • Does the organization have a written policy of no-payment for votes? If so, please provide a link.

Please review our Block Producers Agreed Code of Conduct Steemit post for further details

Great post and it is great to see the UK getting involved.

If anyone reads this and tries to click the link at the bottom of the page to our original candidacy announcement they will find it is a broken link, probably due to a global search and replace activity.

The original candidacy announcement is at https://steemit.com/eos/@bodget/eos-nottingham-announces-block-producer-candidacy

(you can only edit a Steemit post within the first 7 days or publishing it, and then it is written in stone (way! I never knew that either!))
