My father's mother was abandoned with 3 children when my father was 8 years old, my mother grew up in a dirt floor shotgun shack in a national forest in South Carolina back in the 1950's.
For all that fancy "white privilege" no one ever handed me anything.
My father joined the service and we ended up in California.
My time came to hit the world and seek my fortune, after 4 years in the service I stopped in at 3 public utilities in 1980 to apply for jobs I was well qualified for to find out my white privilege was in fact a white liability. I was told to my face "You are white, we won't even look at our application".
I wound up working in small business that did not have enough employees to contend with EOE laws.
Let the free market decide who I can and can't get hired at rather then practice institutional racism by government decree..
