Those who have been following my blog for a while already may know that I regard the plastic pollution of our environment as one of the biggest problems we humans have to face nowadays. Some time ago I already wrote two articles about plastic degrading organisms as a possible future support in the fight against the garbage. (In case you are interested you can find them here and here).
By the way, it is by no means the case that countries such as Germany or other economically leading nations are as exemplary as they pretend to be with regard to waste prevention and disposal. As an example the "Tagesspiegel" awarded Germany the not very flattering title of the (packaging)"garbage world champion".
Ultimately, however, science or politics alone can not solve the plastic problem, only humanity as a whole. It is necessary that every single individual is careful to produce less garbage, to dispose of it appropriately and to try avoiding unnecessary packaging materials.
When, recently, my last computer mouse bit the dust, I acted according to this motto and ordered a wireless optical mouse, whose shell instead of using plastics was made almost entirely from bamboo. Bamboo is durable, flexible, light and regrows quickly again. The mouse itself works so far perfectly and is comfortable to use, even if I have determined that it is not particularly well suited for computer games in which it depends on maximum speed, or lightning chess, since there are faster reacting computer mouses on the market.
I am aware of the fact that purchasing such a mouse is only a very small contribution to plastic reduction, but if more and more people in many different areas of life pay attention to use less plastic, the sum of these numerous small contributions to environmental protection is not to be underestimated.
The vendor Vireo.de of the mouse besides computer accessories provides also many other environmentally-friendly products, whereby it pays attention to CO2 neutral shipping and recyclable packaging.

Diejenigen, die schon länger meine Artikel hier verfolgen, wissen sicherlich, dass ich die Plastikverschmutzung unserer Umwelt als eines der größten Menschheitsprobleme ansehe. So schrieb ich vor längerer Zeit zwei Artikel über Plastik zersetzende Organismen als mögliche zukünftige Unterstützung im Kampf gegen die Vermüllung (für Interessierte verlinke ich sie nochmals hier und hier).
Übrigens ist es keineswegs so, dass Länder wie Deutschland oder andere Industrienationen bezüglich Müllvermeidung und -entsorgung so vorbildlich sind, wie sie sich gerne selbst darstellen. So verlieh z. B. der "Tagesspiegel" Deutschland den wenig schmeichelhaften Titel des (Verpackungs-)"Müll-Weltmeister"s.
Letztlich können aber nicht Wissenschaft oder Politik allein das Plastikproblem lösen, sondern nur die Menschheit als Ganzes, indem jeder Einzelne darauf achtet, weniger Müll zu produzieren, ihn sachgerecht zu entsorgen und möglichst auf unnötige Verpackungsmaterialien zu verzichten.
Als kürzlich meine letzte Computermaus den Geist aufgab, handelte ich gemäß dieser Devise und bestellte eine Funkmaus, deren Äußeres statt aus Kunststoffen fast komplett aus Bambus hergestellt wurde. Bambus ist haltbar, flexibel, leicht und wächst vor allem schnell wieder nach. Die Maus selbst funktioniert bisher einwandfrei und ist komfortabel zu bedienen, auch wenn ich festgestellt habe, dass sie für Computerspiele, bei denen es auf maximale Geschwindigkeit ankommt, oder Blitzschach, nicht besonders gut geeignet ist, da es doch noch deutlich schneller reagierende Mäuse gibt.
Mir ist bewusst, durch den Kauf einer solchen Maus nur einen relativ kleinen Beitrag zur Plastikreduktion zu leisten, aber wenn möglichst viele Menschen in vielen verschiedenen Lebensbereichen darauf achten, mit weniger Plastik auszukommen, ist die Summe dieser zahlreichen kleinen Beiträge zum Umweltschutz nicht zu unterschätzen.

Wusste gar nicht, dass es sowas gibt. Aber an sich eine coole Idee. Für mich wäre diese Maus leider nix, weil ich ein großer Fan von vielen Tasten zur freien Belegung bin. Für den Laptop unterwegs könnte ich es mir evtl vorstellen, aber dann müsste ich meine funktionierende Maus ja wegwerfen und das wäre wiederum nicht im Sinne des Erfinders bzw des Umweltschutzes.
Bin aber sehr gespannt, was die Zukunft noch an “alternativen“ Produkten und Materialien bringen wird. Da ist bestimmt noch einiges Innovationspotential vorhanden
Es gibt noch "Die Faire Maus" von Nager IT, aber die gefiel mir vom Aussehen her nicht so gut ...

lieber @jaki01, also die maus sieht nicht nur verdammt gut aus, sie scheint auch ihren dienst zu tun, auch wenn nicht für die allerhöchsten ansprüche. plastik finde ich jedenfalls, genauso wie du, eines der größten probleme. plastik ist einfach überall und ich finde jede alternative gut! bambus ist ein toller rohstoff. man kann irre viel damit machen. sogar fahrräder gibt es aus bambus. fetten support meinerseits und guter post. lg.

that is a very nice looking bamboo mouse. Well you have really started to reduce the plastic usage. i still remember how my grandmother has a bowl made from coconut shell.
those days are so natural. we as human race really has to reduce the plastic usage.

Ich find die Maus wunderschön und dann auch noch aus einem super Rohstoff.
Wir legen auch viel Wert darauf, so wenig wie möglich die Umwelt zu belasten.
Die Verkäufer erkennen uns alle und lachen immer, weil wir die Verrückten sind die keine Tüten wollen.
Was es nicht alles gibt :-) Ich habe seit 5 Jahren keine Maus mehr in der Hand gehabt, dank Trackpad im Mac.
Die Maus sieht wirklich cool aus. Sie wirkt auf dem Bild allerdings etwas klein. Passt die auch für große Hände?
Zum Thema Gaming: gibts da schon Ankündigungen für eine auf Gamer abgestimmte Maus?

Interesting post , I'm seeing this mouse for the 1st time and the idea is also unique. we should use more this type of products in order to reduce pollution and to make the world a better place .
I agree with you to reduce the use of plastics by at least contributing not to using plastic products, and in this case you use a mouse of bamboo, and a unique mouse with a distinctive bamboo color. In indonesia also the use of plastics is reduced, many markets and supermarkets are already implementing plastic packaging bundle ..., and your post is very interesting @ jaki01....., and have a nice day @jaki01
That's super cool and of course environmentally friendly. I think people can take small steps to protect their environment by changing every day products to environmentally friendly material. I know bamboo toothbrushes are great, and there are also bamboo kitchen towel, toilet paper etc. Thanks for sharing!

Also, bei normaler Arbeit am Computer ist sie eigentlich sehr angenehm und liegt gut in der Hand.
Wenn ich Blitzschach im Internet spiele, merke ich, dass ihre Reaktionszeit nicht die kürzeste ist (was sich vermutlich auch bei solchen Computerspielen bemerkbar macht, bei denen es auf maximale Geschwindigkeit ankommt).
Ich würde sie wieder kaufen (wobei ich bezüglich ihrer Haltbarkeit natürlich noch keine Aussage machen kann).

Bisher hat es Bambus bei mir nur bis in die Küche geschafft. Als Schneidebrett. Bambus ist ein genialer Rohstoff und wächst so schnell. Genial finde ich immer die Gerüste in China aus Bambus. Kein Metall wie bei uns.

hab so eine maus noch nicht gesehen- im endeffekt kommt es aber auf die handhabung an.
Bei günstigen "plastik" Modellen gilt wer billig kauft -kauft zweimal
Nice product. Bamboo is a great resource! Too bad the manufacturer couldn't resist the plastic window in the packaging (even if it is bio degradable)

Gute Sache, wenn auch eher von symbolischer Strahlkraft, denn: So eine Maus ist ein vergleichsweise langlebiges Konsumprodukt (wie auch Rucksäcke, Zelte, Computer, Lichtschalter …), hier eingespartes Plastik ist vergleichsweise "egal". Richtig sparen kann man dagegen bei dem ganzen "Eintagsfliegen"-Plastik, vor allem also Verpackungen.
