I am working on starting up a business. Its really early in the game so I am keeping a journal to document the experience, and also to give myself some accountability.
And I want to document the experience here on steemit for the following reasons: 1) With Blockchain technology, the words will never be lost. 2) It can be shared and 3) Maybe it'll help others or reach some who can help me during this process.
For those that are curious as to what type of business it is... it's a niche retail store. Soon I will post a portion of the business plan and provide a link to it.
If you choose to follow along you'll see what type of niche it is. I'm not hiding it by any means... but like I said it's a niche, which by definition means the type of store wont appeal to most people. I want the focus of this blog to be the journey of entrepreneurship itself.
I have been successfully self-employed for 10 years as a delivery driver, but that's a sole proprietorship with only me, myself and I. This project is by far the biggest I've ever jumped into head first. Complete with 2 business partners and a team of at least a dozen eager supporters. We'll see how it goes... wish us luck!
What I accomplished today, 1/18/18
- Drove around looking at possible locations in my area. This was a lot of fun. I basically just hit every shopping plaza on a main road (Mechanicsville Tpke) and parked near the empty lots to get out and look. Took pics of the good locations and the "for lease" signs with contact information. Found two that are pretty suitable, one of which is literally walking distance from my house. I sent pics of that one to my business partner hoping he'd love it. Didn't really get much reaction via text though. I'll find out more when we meet on Sunday. The location is going to be tricky because we need a rather large space, but not too large. Kind of a Goldilocks situation for sure.
- Found an accountant with 5 positive reviews on Google. I set a reminder on my calendar to call tomorrow, and programmed them in as a contact.
- Updated my progress on Steemit. I'm going to count that one as an accomplishment for the first little bit. I think I've heard people say you have to do something 21 days in a row for it to become a habit. So maybe Captain's Log 00022 I'll stop counting it. :)
- After I finish here I plan to look at the websites of these companies that are listed as contact info for the buildings I looked at today. After looking at a few shopping plazas I started seeing the same companies pop up. Tonight's question before I go to bed and prepare for a new day tomorrow is: Should I get a realtor to help us with this search? Or just keep doing what I'm doing?
So that was my day today as far as what all got done. Tomorrow is a busy fun evening hanging out with friends. Hopefully I'll get a chance to do at least a little something to progress forward on my dream during the day and report back. Peace and love and abundance to all, and Steem on Steemians!
Steem Pro Tip: Set your posts to 50/50
Let's say you earn $10.00 for this post
On a 100% SP post, that gets converted into SP... so let's say 1 STEEM = $5, you'd make 2SP
On a 50/50% SP post, 50% goes to SBD at 1:1, so $5 into SBD, then $5 gets converted to STEEM, so say 1 SP. At the moment, 1 SBD is rouuuuughly equal to 1 STEEM, so you could trade that 5 SBD on https://steemit.com/market for about 5 STEEM, which you can convert to about 5 SP...
So by doing a 50/50 post you'd end up with about 2.5x as much SP.
Noice One!
