One of the beautiful things about reading a book or seeing a movie is learning, consciously or unconsciously. When we read a book, we get insight and share in the thoughts of the writer. Unlike reading a book, seeing a movie plays through our eyes, into our minds. Most peopl e find it easier to see a movie than to read a book. Interestingly, experts found out that what we see stick more to our minds than what we read.
Reading a book or seeing a movie has an infinite value. We get to learn from the author's view and tap from his knowledge. This has a way of influencing our thoughts, beliefs and judgements about situations and life generally. Books or movies may be inspirational, motivational or historical. Depending on our individual preferences, we all have reasons why we venture into reading a book or seeing a movie.
A movie inspired by the true story of Master Chief Petty Officer, Carl Brashear, titled Men of Honour, made me realize that determination and self - confidence are very important in achieving one's goals. This has been a great influence on me---it snapped me out of thinking there is a barrier to getting my desired results. Also, Keith Harrell's book taught me attitude is everything. Such and many more have been the influence of books and movies on people over the years. Many have been spurred into greatness and have developed the right attitude to life through the influence of a book or movie.
Just like there are books or movies with good influence, others which have bad influence are also many. We are only left with the decision to choose the path that suits us. On any path we choose, let's not forget, the influence of what we read and see cannot be overemphasized.
