The videogame Lollipop Chainsaw was a creation that was difficult to forget. The 2012 project of Suda51 and James Gunn was lead by the talented Tara Strong who gave her voice to Juliet Starling, an 18 year old cheerleader who's a zombie hunter while wearing very revealing outfits. The plot, characters and a script filled with dark humour made me love the game... And my likeness towards the main character made me feel like a perv.
Can I get a Z, O and M?
The game takes place in a high school, where Juliet discovers that the undead have been released from an alternate dimension thanks to goth boy Swan (voiced by Sean Gunn). When the Buffy of zombies searches for her boyfriend, Nick, she discovered that he had been bitten and, to save him, performs a ritual in which she decapitates him. It keeps him alive... With the exception that only his head survives the rite. They, with the help of her family, embark on a quest to stop the apocalypse.
Can I get a B, I and E?
The characters fulfill the typical high school clichés with a twist: Pretty girl who secretly uses a heart filled chainsaw, a jock with a heart of gold, a talkative goth, an unhinged little sister, an asskicking big sister and more. The bosses of each stage also had their style, which actually helped the gameplay, because the ways you faced them were different... YOU'LL NEVER GET BORED WITH THIS GAME.
And what do we get?
Some unlockables are unnecessary (like music that I never knew I could change until the 5th time I played the game), others are cool (like Juliet's costumes which do not disappoint... again with the creepy factor, I'm sorry) and more. I had issues with the camera movements that occasionally and the movements feel repetitive after a while, but that's small stuff.
Bonus Round:
-I loved hearing the voices of Shawnee Smith and Michael Rooker.
-I could never listen to “You Spin Me Round” without thinking of this game.
-I'm waiting for a sequel James!
Score >>4/5. Comment and play Lollipop Chainsaw on Xbox 360 and Play Station 3.
