I, personally, am an Enneagram 6, but I have a lot of 4s in my life. I recently attended an Enneagram workshop where one particular insight from a 4 in the room really struck me.
Her insight was this: "Discipline is the path to freedom."
As much as I love 4s, they do tend to have difficulty finishing some of the tasks they set out to do, they often get distracted by what other people are doing, or completely abandon a project because of impulsiveness or perhaps not wanting to miss out on something more fun.
If the 4 is volatile in their decision-making and has difficulty making commitments, this will be reflected in their emotional states as well. 4s feel very deeply, and when undisciplined, are prone to mood swings due to the chaos they have the ability to create in their own lives. While it is important for 4s to feel deeply, they can also become imprisoned by their emotions, withdrawing from important activities as a result of them. That is why, for a 4 to grow, they have to be disciplined, and find ways to limit stressful situations by adequately planning for the future.
If there are any 4s out there, I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Do you experience something like this?

Wonderful post ..thanks for sharing...Best of luck friend ✫
Thanks for reading!
I really relate to this as a 4 on the enneagram! Too true! What's funny is that I've seen many articles and other info on 4s but I've never seen anyone touch on this aspect of a 4. But this is definitely true for me. Something I have to work on.
Glad it resonated with you. My goal is to provide deeper insights on specific aspects of the Enneagram, but I think I will also do a few posts to help people get more familiar with the overall ideas of the enneagram.
