Hello friends, today my post is directed to those little angels who have the Down syndrome condition, we must bear in mind that this syndrome is not a disease is A CONDITION, which we must respect and know.

Why respect? Because people with this condition are equal to us and deserve respect and inclusion like all human beings in the world.

Why know? Because anyone can have a child, family member or friend with this condition and it is very important to know how it originates and how these people should be treated.

TODAY, MARCH 21, THE INTERNATIONAL DOWN SYNDROME DAY IS COMMEMORATED.

And the best way to commemorate this day is by teaching us a little about this condition.

On March 21, every year, the day of Down syndrome is celebrated in relation to the third extra chromosome in par 21 that characterizes people with Down syndrome. That is why it takes place on the 21st day of the third month of each year (March). This variation in chromosomes has effects on learning, language problems, heart disease, physical features or health.

This day is commemorated with the aim of making people aware of this condition that can occur anywhere in the world without distinction of social class, race or religion.

Now that we know that this condition can affect any person and as we know ignorance is the worst disease that can suffer the human being we begin to know a little more about this condition.

  1. Down syndrome receives its name from the British physician John Langdon Down, who was the first to identify the physical characteristics of this condition in the year 1866.

  2. This syndrome is also known as trisomy 21.

  3. People with Down syndrome show some common characteristics but each individual is unique, with unique appearance, personality and abilities.

  4. It is estimated that there are a total of six million people with Down syndrome in the world.

  5. The life expectancy of a person with Down syndrome has increased considerably, reaching around 60 years now.

  6. 90% of people with trisomy 21 access the regular school.

  7. Down syndrome is not a disease and therefore can not be cured.

  8. This congenital alteration occurs spontaneously, without there being an apparent cause on which action can be taken to prevent it.

All people with this syndrome have many of the limitations which they can overcome with the help of their parents, teachers, therapists and society. People with this condition should be encouraged as they must also have control of their health so that these people can have a better quality of life.

Hope this post will be of benefit to all, I remain open to your comments.

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!
