Oh yes...the elusive rockfish and stick fish as we used to know them. Caught many of those in my day. Largest Rockfish I ever caught was of the concrete variety, fishing down below the dam and Alton, that sucker weighed 6 1/2 pounds. Thank goodness we were fishing for spoonbill so I had about a 50 pound line on it and I was able to pull her in. And the largest stickfish I ever caught was an Elm stickfish, that son of a gun was about 32 lb and about eight and a half feet long! She fought for a good hour and a half before I got her to the bank.(I had to take it slow on this one because I only had about a 15 pound line on the pole this time and I didn't want to lose her.) I pulled her up and got her on shore, and wouldn't you know she slipped out of my hands and got loose before I got to picture.

I guess if you're not catching the fish of the eating variety, you might as well have the mighty fish tales for the inedible variety when it comes to the one that got away. :)
I can't say I ever fought that long, even to have a fish story to tell, so true or fishy, that's awesome right there. I usually just broke the light tugging too hard or cut it on purpose and moved on. :)
