re: material
I don't have any plans to go anywhere if I can help it. I'm just acknowledging the possibility that I won't be able to hang around forever if things don't pick up for me personally a little faster.
In the grand scheme of things, I would be just one more of many others who have already left. As much as you or I might think any of us contribute to this platform, it's not really about the content. Not yet. It should be, it can be, but it isn't, outside of a very active but dwindling group that we just happen to be a part of.
re: big enough
Well, I guess that depends on what you need. In my case, to get this to a point where my wife could stop working, we would need a minimum of $2,000 a month (after any taxes or whateverβmoney to spend). That's not a whole lot, but in order for it to work here, I would need to make $500 a week, which right now is translating into roughly 288 STEEM. I'm good to be averaging 15 STEEM. Obviously, if STEEM goes up and stays up, then the mountain isn't so high to climb.
But that's just taking care of the bills, which really aren't that much, and food. Not a whole lot of savings going, which means we're not doing a whole lot. I suppose we could move and try to lower some things even further, but that's a lot to go through just to try to get to make Steemit work faster. And my wife wouldn't move because of that, anyway.
So, $2,500 might do it, $625 a week, or roughly $347 STEEM.
However, I wouldn't want to just exchange all of my earnings. It would be good to power some of that up, because then I can make more. That means I need to make more before I can really justify (in my mind) taking out that much.
I could ease into it, supplement, hope that's enough, but I don't know how much longer my wife is going to last. Her job is pretty physically demanding and like all of us, she's not getting younger. That would be awesome if it worked like that, but so far, I've not experienced it. :)
re: bankruptcy notices
Actually, I'm referring to foreclosure notices. We had the corner on the Trustee Notice of Sale for two counties. The Trustees paid to have those notices go into the paper. We happened to charge the least of all the papers in either county, which was one reason, and the other was we had the best customer service. Pretty unbeatable combination. So, when the legislature changed the way the foreclosures were to be processed (or better said, they confused it), the banks stopped foreclosing, so that meant no more notices. We were out of business within four months.
re: what kind of topics
Well, the topics can vary. Generally, I'm in my feed, because I've hand picked those folks, and for the most part, they deliver, although some of them have slowed down or switched to other topics that I don't know what to say or ask about.
After that, it's been a grab bag. I can be all over the board topic wise, but not all posts about the same topic grab my attention, and after a while, things get pretty repetitive.
So, I'm probably pickier than most people (blame it on the newspaper publishing), but I've yet to find my vein of commenting gold. :)
wow sir glen everytime you write I have more questions but thanks so much for explaining things to me. You said that "it isn't about the content" then what is it about?
thanks for breaking down the earnings stats and what you would need in order to live, I'm going to save those figures to go by.
yeah it doesn't look possible right now does it?
very interesting about the bankruptcy notices..my wife and I were on the end of that process, the boots on the ground in our real estate business, we processed foreclosures for the banks but we were the one's delivering
eviction notices and processing the homes and getting them ready then selling them.
hey have you studied minds.com? I won't go into that unless you haven't heard of them.
also, people tell me to not vote more than 10 times a day, don't let my vote power get below 85% and then some people say it doesn't matter because it just gets replaced anyway.
what is your advice on how to handle voting when you don't have much sp?
thank you sir!
