RE: 🏆 The Curation and Engagement Leagues 🏆 - STEEM prizes available! 🎁

With your numbers, you will. I've heard quite a bit happens on Discord, and if it's leading to networking that leads to greater rewards, I can see the draw. If it's taking time away from the engagement, which also leads to greater rewards, then I'm not sure what to say. I tend to use Discord for GINAbot and that's about it. I've been told I need to get on Discord if I want to get anywhere. Well, that might be true, but I'm happy where I'm at for the time being spending as much of my time on Steemit as possible.

At any rate, all we can do is work on what we know we can do and let the chips fall, as they say. :)

It is true quite a lot of networking happens off the blockchain. Finding the right community that your content fits in well with can also take a while. I’ve been on steemit for almost a year now most of my time I’ve avoided discord. It can start to consume time like crazy some people will end up not posting for weeks because they get to busy in them.

I prefer to go with the less is more. There only a couple of discords I’m even active in. Even fewer where I feel I’m a contributing member enough to share my blogs with. There quite a few leeches out there that just join every discord and spam around there blog. Those kind of spammers tend to spend more time and sharing there work than the effort they put into it.

Another trick to discord and cough I’ll give you a run for your money one day. Long list of people who share a similar interest! The last time I was top in engagement was because I went down a member list one of they had and tried to engage with every single member of that community. Most did not even reply back as I knew a few of them where just there to “share” there link and not be involved.

If you can find a great quite place with not to many people they can be great. Even more so if they are team players and don’t want be just a take kind of person. Those places also tend to get filled up over time with other kinds of people. I’ve seen people flat out lie just to get into the more excludes discords. Those people never last long and those discords are also places you don’t want anger the people running them.

The more people tell me about their experiences on discord or steem.chat, the less I'm interested in either. So many downsides compared to the potential upside. Oh, well. I'm not going to try to discourage anyone from doing what they think they should do, though. Especially when i might break down and try something. I do have five different communities I've accepted invitations to, in addition to GINAbot, but I'm rarely there, and half of them are new, like curie, the curation squared community and the oracle-d group. So, anyway, it's not like I've not at least opened the channel. I just don't go there very often.
