Greetings, abh12345, from not-so-sunny Western Oregon this fine Monday morning/afternoon. I think I'm nine hours behind you, so my day is barely started where yours is on the downhill.
Looks like there's quite a few newer names hitting the Top 40, along with some more familiar ones.
I've had this general sense of a slowdown the last few weeks. Have you felt it? I can't be the only one. I don't know if it's summer, lower STEEM prices, EOS launching, day-to-day living, other factors, or any combination thereof. I just feel like there's not as much going on, and all of our numbers are reflecting it.
I just know my hours aren't changing. But it's been harder to find posts that I feel I should upvote and comment on, and then there hasn't been as many people replying. In all seriousness, I think it's the Top 20% of leaguers who seem to be carrying the bulk of the load.
That might not be much of a revelation or an observation as it is a reconfirmation that what you've created, and what @carlgnash, @paulag, and now @curieโplus othersโhave helped to sustain, is what's keeping the STEEM ecosystem going for us humans.
So, as always, thank you for the leagues. Thank you for giving us all more of a reason for being here than just our own needs/wants. Thank you for trying to make Steemit/STEEM live up to its original calling and steer it/them towards the potential we all feel it/they have.
Arghh, 6 days late with a reply here - shameful!
I've read similar from others in the past couple of weeks and think we are at a low point (summer / price) right now.
I strongly advise plodding on though, and may be bringing out my first 'buy STEEM' post of 2018 soon!
Thanks for all your work this year Glen, a real star performance :)
I look forward to such a post. I've been having issues getting Coinbase to cooperate with what I want to use. It's no longer accepting credit cards and orders using a bank account take five business days to fill, so I'm kind of in a quandary here. Otherwise, I would have bought some more STEEM within the last couple of days.
Okay, so star performance makes me think of kindergarten or elementary school where you could get stars for right answers. I appreciate the sentiment, though. I'm trying to do what I can, which I think is all any of us can or should do, so a lot of what I do manage to create is because I have the time to do it. I don't think I would be able to be as prolific as I might seem now with less time.
I also like to write. That helps. :)
I just need to magic so fiat from somewhere I'm in good to go.
The price look to be consolidating. It's early to wade in but the time could be approaching.
Bummer with the 5 day deal, that is a bit excessive. 5 stars would be better โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ ๐
You think there's more room for the price to lower, or was that before this most recent drop below $1.40. I'm behind and catching up, so I'm not sure if the price point is "wade in" time or if you're thinking it still has more to go. I know you're not a professional, but I am interested in what people think about all of this.
I may have found a workaround. I'll know more later. It might mean opening another account. It's already a bunch of hoops just to get from dollars to STEEM, but now there's an extra layer to get from dollars to any kind of crypto because they don't take credit cards.
I would Coinbase Litecoin to an exchange, sell to BTC, and buy steem. Blocktrades cuts a few exchange steps out, but won't be cheaper.
I'd be surprised if STEEM goes lower than a dollar, but wouldn't wade in til then or likely at any point. Holding STEEM power gets you noticed and gives better curation rewards, this is my logic behind not worrying too much about landing the lows.
