Even though BTC consumes a lot of energy and may ultimately fail, it has served as an important proof-of-concept for blockchain. It has led to a lot of innovative cryptocurrencies, like, say, Gridcoin. Blockchain has many other potential uses that are only starting to be explored. So, let's not beat up on BTC, but, instead, promote GRC's virtues and show interest in future crypto innovations and other blockchain uses.

(Personally, I think failure is very likely given BTC's slow transaction speed and poor security.)
