In 1995, an amusement park called the Enchanted Kingdom was opened in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. This amusement park has been a part of the childhood of some of the parents today and whenever their kids "appeal" to them until now to take them there. Anyone who goes to this amusement park is especially thrilled to ride the various attractions that the park and recreation center has to give.
According to the newspaper article of Philippine Star (Dec. 2009), "Enchanted Kingdom (EK) was recently cited by the government of Laguna for generating the biggest tourist arrivals in 2008, amounting to more than 846,000 visitors our of the 1.974 million who visited the said province last year." That's a no-brainer because EK is Philippine's primary and only world-class theme park.
Park Zones
Inside EK, there are various Park Zones or designated areas. Upon entering the park, the Victoria Park will welcome you along its Victorian-era charm. Children and parents alike are continuously enchanted to ride in the rich Grand Carousel, the primary attraction in this zone, it is also Philippine's largest carousel. Whoever goes in EK will surely ride on one of the Victorian horses in the Grand Carousel. Also, you can meet and greet EK's mascot, Eldar the Wizard.
Most children's favorite ride in EK is the Boulderville. A dinosaur-themed park zone designed specifically for kids. The rides in this park zone are Boulderville Express, Bumbling Boulders, Air Pterodactyl, and the Stone Eggs. The Rock Quarry and Petreefied Treehouse serve as play facilities for kids. Sometimes, dinosaur mascots show up so kids can take a picture with them.
Portabello, a Carribean-themed imitation of sounds and sights of the Carribean Sea's environment. Here you will find the Flying Fiesta (a fun and very big swing ride); Rio Grande Rapids which is EK's biggest attraction that has a white-water ride; and the 4D movie entertainment at the 4D Discovery Theatre. An important reminder if you want to ride the Rio Grande Rapids, bring an extra set of clothes with you. Expect to get wet when you ride the Rio Grande Rapids.
The next park zone is called the Brooklyn Place, and it would remind you of the 1940s New York with its imitation of buildings similar to that time. You will also have fun watching a short film at Rialto, a motion simulator theatre that associates sights, sound, and movement. Moviegoers will be strapped to their chair with a seatbelt to prevent people from falling during exciting/action-packed scenes. They regularly change the film being shown in Rialto. Other attractions as the Brooklyn Place are the Broadway Show and Brooklyn Show.
The Spaceport park zone's main attraction is the cringed yet thrilling ride, the 11-story high Space Shuttle. This is Philippines' first and only coaster that will loop thrice, turn upside-down six times, and will go forward and backward thrice. Sounds exciting right? Other attractions in this park zone have extra charges for you to enter, and these are Kart Trak and ATV.
As its name recommends, the Jungle Outpost features a jungle theme, especially the Amazon. The main attraction of this zone is the Jungle Log Jam, "where guests swoosh way down two gushing waterfalls full of breathtaking twists and turns." This ride won't get you wet that much but if you ever needed if you should bring an extra shirt. If you want a relaxing ride, go to Swan Lake. You can ride on swan boats and relish the tranquil lake.
The Midway Boardwalk, redolent of Coney Island of the 1930s America. The available attractions in this park zone are Dodgem (bump cars), Roller Skater, Up Up and Away!, and the swinging ship, Anchor's Away.
The Wheel of Fate, a giant Ferris wheel that brings the guests up to 130 ft. above ground. Also located in the at the Midway Boardwalk. Because of its large size, this Ferris wheel can be seen along the SLEX. Despite its size, this ride is very relaxing since you will be mesmerized by the view when you get to the topmost, especially at night. Another ride in Midway Boardwalk is the Ekstreme tower, guests who ride it is brought to the top and it will drop very fast.
Dining
Food stalls and restaurants are available inside Enchanted Kingdom. Foods and drinks are prohibited to be brought inside. At the Spaceport park zone in an outdoor food court where you can buy meals and guests usually dine here.
Some of the food stalls at EK are Launch Time, Pizza Hut, Ice Monster, Dimsum N' Dumplings, Ice Age Ice Cream, Dairy Queen, Amazon Grill and Soda Fountain.
UPDATE
Because of the popular demand from guests for water attractions and because of the sizzling summer season in the Philippines, EK has recently opened the first and only world-class inflatable park in the Philippines. In cooperation with BiKiWorld of South Korea, EK was able to set-up six giant water inflatable pools with slide collectively known as the EK Biki Waterworld. An extra charge is needed to enter this attraction.
AGILA the Eksperience is the first and only flying theatre in the Philippines! A stimulating multi-sensory adventure that took the amusement park entertainment to incredible heights.
