Are you wondering what Eid Mubarak means? Maybe you seen this on Facebook, on TV or others social media websites.
Eid Mubarak or Blessed Eid is a traditional Muslim greeting reserved for use on the festivals of Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr. Eid means "celebration" and refers to the occasion itself, and Mubarak means "blessed"
So Eid, meaning “celebration,” and Mubarak, meaning “Blessed” literally translates to wishing your friends a blessed holiday.
Some state this exchange of greetings is a cultural tradition and not part of any religious obligation. However, it is only used during the celebration of the two Muslim holidays.
The daily fasting undertaken by Muslims means they must fast during the hours of sunrise to sunset, and pray and read the Koran during that time.
They can then break their fast at sunset, called Iftar, and replenish themselves.
People actively practising Islam will have repeated this daily fasting ritual for the entire month of Ramadan, which is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar.
In the Philippines, it is recognized as a legal holiday, though the greeting of Eid Mubarak has gained traction only recently.
In Turkey, where 'Eid Mubarak' is not common, the synonymous phrase "Bayramınız mübarek olsun" is used instead, along with its more Turkic counterpart, "Bayramınız kutlu olsun" or "Iyi Bayramlar", all meaning "may your holiday be blessed".
In India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, Eid Mubarak wishes are very common and often accompanied by hugging three times after the Salat al Eid.
Myself I am a Christian Catholic but I respect all other religions.
"It doesn't matter how you pray. Just pray. All religions are beautiful and they all have one common belief."
