"If reality doesn't match my predictions, that's reality's problem."

Biologist Paul Ehrlich aptly demonstrating why blindly believing what scientists say, or mindlessly "following the science" is a bad idea.

His peer-reviewed book wrongly predicted millions of deaths by starvation in the '70s, and he's never admitted he's wrong. Instead, he's been showered with honors for repeatedly propagating bullshit. That speaks to the problem extending beyond him and to many other scientists, too.

The fundamental problem he made is that he never grasped that he was trying to do economics without having bothered to study it. He's just another guy who was smart but not wise enough to recognize the limits of his own education.

Anyone who is seriously concerned with scientific validity should shun Ehrlich.
