How Steemit can help to change our Education with Memory Techniques

in #education7 years ago (edited)

Imagine a world where learning is so easy and affordable that children around the world are growing into broadly educated individuals. Memory Techniques and technology are the tools to make that happen.

Status Quo

At the moment we are all going through our education with no clue how the brain works in regards to learning. The process of memorizing is never explained but constantly required through our entire life. We repeat information over and over again until even the slowest in class has digested it.

We are expected to memorize vocabulary for homework without the slightest hint of how to that. We are bombarded with historical dates, terms, concepts, lists and names in school. And we respond by cramming the information until we need them in the next exam and forget them gladly by never thinking about it again. And even after school and university we are forced to continue learning to respond to and ever more quickly changing world.

What Memory Techniques can improve

Memory techniques are basically a way to translate abstract information into much more memorable images and stories which we can visualize and imagine. That way we can easily and quickly memorize a large amount of any data we want. At the same time we are training and rewiring our brain to be more creative, have a longer concentration span and a better visualization skill.

If we pair them with spaced repetition, a clever way of repeating large amount of information with the smallest effort, we are capable of memorizing entire books not word by word but with all relevant details. Software allows us to manage thousands of flashcards and reminds us of when it is time to repeat a certain info.

But much more importantly we are gaining a huge amount of confidence in ourselves because we are finally able to effectively study with ease and fun. Memory sports is doing its part of spreading the word of how far you can go with this skill, when you see people like Johannes Mallow memorize 132 historical dates in 5 minutes. Or how about 30 names in 60 seconds?

Impact on the world

I use big words when I talk about memory techniques. But imagine a world where education is build on how our brain works. Perfectionized to fit the needs of each and every single individual. Where every person grows up with the most capable private teacher in the world, the personal AI assistent.
Steem
Imagine how smart the average twelve year old in fifteen years will be, when he has already used memory techniques since he was six, daily handling hundreds of digital flashcards with automatically created images, videos and sounds and music. These children will know and remember more than the average high school graduate today. It will help to educate the next generation and ourselves in a way impossible to fully imagine today.

How Steemit will help

But to we reach that utopia of education we have to raise the awareness about memory techniques. Steemit is a way to finance tutorials, articles, interviews, videos and even entire memory championships. On my private channel @flauwy I am already posting fun little tutorials of how to use memory techniques with names and dates.

I will try to wake your interest in memory techniques. Only by training your memory you can truly incorporate them into your life. With my help you can all learn how to become a super memorizer, a fancy word for a natural ability laying dormant within all mankind. It is time to wake it up and change the world.
