Hosting international students in your home can be rewarding both financially and personally. On average hosting a student can earn you between $800 and $1000 a month.

The student pays an agency or English language school directly and your contract is held with the school. Payment comes from the school and they are the ones who manage the placement of the students in your home.

For your payment you supply a comfortable, clean, safe and friendly space for the students to live. You must provide 2 to 3 nutritional meals per day (depending on the the student's package). Lastly you must spend some time conversing with the students to help them learn the language. This doesn't have to take the form of lessons, simply eating dinner together and asking them about their day does wonders for learning the language.

Always treat the students with respect and dignity. It can be quite intimidating being in foreign country all alone so you are there to support and advocate for them as well.

We have been hosting international students in our home for many years and love it! As with anything in life there are challenges to overcome but on a whole we find it very rewarding. We now have "extended" family throughout Central and South America and can't wait to visit them in their home countries.

If you have any questions or comments please post them and I will respond.
