RE: Education System Is Broken! There is No Way to Fix it...

in #education8 years ago

We do need to improve the education system. There are a few things that need to be done.

Most importantly, restructure the University system in a way that moves AWAY from the education for profit agenda. Even public and "not-for-profit" schools over hire administrative staff, under pay educators, and collude with publishers to set obscene prices for books and required materials. This model benefits people who aren't even providing the education and drives profits.

Start parenting again! I understand that 2 parent households often mean 2 working parents and very little time or energy to spend with our children, nonetheless we are their parents. It is partially our responsibility to teach them financial literacy, emotional intelligence, and life skills.

Bring back art, music, trades, and home economics. Give kids options in school to develop enough personal and financial skills to pursue future careers and personal business ventures.

Teach investing for the future, not saving for safety! Saving your money (no matter how hard you work) will never get you anywhere. If your dime isn't working for you it's working for someone else (the bank, the corporations, politicians ...)

Just some of my thoughts on the subject
