RE: Competing politics behind the education problem

in #education7 years ago

A lot has changed since then. There is a reason I homeschooled mine for the longest time! Schools are made for education in some areas and geared towards children. They incorporate the things needed for a kid to thrive and become a successful adult. That isn't always the case. The political infighting does more harm than good and it allows too many good teachers and needy students to slip through the cracks.

Thanks for the comment. Would you say that this contradiction between the three goals has ended today then? To me it seems like there is still uncertainty over what the main goal over education should be, and an even larger rise of credentialism or surrogate learning, where certificates and grades and degrees matter more than what is being learnt. Credential inflation seems to be continuing to occur, with college/university education becoming the new baseline. Would be interested to hear your thoughts about this.
