I believe that a good way to cultivate a good reading habit in kids is to read aloud to them and try to make them interact with the images in the pages. This speaks volumes of why I prefer reading books with sufficient images than not. Also, parents must have that which they're trying to give to a child. Hence, parents need to become avid reader themselves. Kids learn salient details by imitation. Nothing succeeds quite like it.

That's absolutely true, kids interact better with pictures as it resonates with their instinctual drive for pleasure.
