Once I saw in a film that if you rub a pin to magnetize it and then put it on a leaf and float them on a still water, it will nove towards north. Is that right doc?

you need to use silk cloth to rub it to align the molecules temporarily and only one end of needle or pin. it last a minute or two. water must be still and leaf or float small. also it only points to magnetic north OR towards large deposits of metal ore in ground or large bodies of water. so you need to know your area.
