Aww thanks. I believe homeschoolers do excellent in almost ever case, excepting the families that don't actually teach their kids.

100% correct. The sad thing is lots of them don’t. Like your friend said it takes dedication and a willingness on the part of the parent to sometimes teach themselves stuff and then follow through with the kids. I see a lot of parents that do not do that but I know you will.
I am not an unschooler, although I've met quite a few of them. We are kind of the opposite extreme, leaning towards classical, with of course tailoring to my children's needs. That said, my childhood best friend was homeschooled by her mother who was drunk more often than not. Despite it, she did manage to learn the basics. It is impressive how much a kid can learn on their own. But of course, I want mine learning more than the basics.
