I went to school for music composition, but never got a degree. I ended up dropping out and teaching guitar instead.
The great thing about teaching guitar was that it was something I could do in the same field I wanted to be in, but without a degree. And honestly, I feel like you don't really need a degree for music anyway, just experience and skill. But, it allowed me to start earning money right away instead of building up student loan debt.
I don't know if I regret going for music or not because I am where I am now because of it. Without it, I may never have pursued teaching, who knows? But at the same time it was kind of a waste of time/money since I didn't really get anything out of it haha!
I watched your video and I can relate to feeling excited about the thought of entrepreneurial ship! Can't wait to see more from you! Have a great rest of the night!
Thanks for sharing your story!! I think you make a great point about how everything is connected. Even though you didn’t end up finishing the degree- it may have given you the confidence to start teaching. Life is funny that way!
Also, it sounds like you were smart about “getting out” before you got too deep into student debt.
Great story!
