Body treatment are essential for the whole body to keep it smooth, healthy and soft. Body massage as a part of body treatment helps to make you feel relaxed, it energizes you, makes you look younger, it relieve the tension in your back, it helps keeps the body working at optimal levels, it keeps your body well emotionally and physically.
There are different type of body treatment but will we be discussing about body scrub.
Body scrub
Sometimes called a body polish it is an exfoliating treatment that takes place on a massage table covered with a sheet and a large thin piece if plastic. As you lay on the table with your stomach down the massage therapist rubs the mixture on your skin which includes sea salt, oil and aromatics like lemon, this exfoliates he skin and leaves the body feeling so soft and alive.
It is advisable to have your body scrub before massage if you are having both. Once the whole body has been scrubbed go for a shower but without making use of a body soap, it leaves the body coating with oil.
Mostly salt is been used for a body scrub when spa were first getting started, the harder the scrub the softer your skin but it could actually hurt! Recently sugar scrubs are not just becoming an alternative but a substitute for salt scrub.
Sugar scrub are easier to use and can remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells without causing pain to the body. Sugar scrub is a good choice for sensitive skin, it also hydrates the skin cause the sugar is usually combined with oil such as lavender rose, geranium or grape fruit. The sugar scrub is also followed by a shower then the therapist will apply body lotion on your skin. It is more fabulous to get your shower while laying down and to have someone to bath you. A sugar scrub can be combine with a massage the massage calms you down.
Do it yourself
You can be your own massage therapist by making your own sugar scrub at home by combinating sweet almond oil, sugar and a few drops of high quality essential oil like lavender rise, grape fruit.
Try this homemade scrub
½ cup of white or brown sugar
½ cup of olive oil
½ cup of ground oatmeal (or coffee grounds for a more invigorating scrub)
1-3 drops of essential oil
Whisk all the ingredient together and pour into a jar to be used when needed, a body scrub can be done two to three times a week but for a sensitive skin once is enough.
If you have a sunburn or you are experiencing skin rash or other skin condition give the body scrub a break because the ingredient can cause body irritation if applied.
