TEEN SEXUALITY

Sexuality and sexual activity are not the same thing. SEXUALITY refers to a person's view of himself or herself as a male or female. It involves more of physical maturity or the ability to be sexually active. Sexuality includes how people feel about themselves and their sense of responsibility for and understanding of other people and their feelings. Thus, sexuality has physical, intellectual, emotional and social aspect.
Individuals show their sexuality in various ways. They show their maleness or femaleness in their attitudes, in the way they walk, talk, move and dress.

During adolescent boy and girls beginning to develop a sense of their own sexuality.  Chemical in the body called HORMONES dictate changes as teens become sexually mature.  These changes often have an emotional, as well as physical, impact. They can cause mood swings and emotional ups and downs. 
Social development also shifts into high gear during puberty. T he be are attraction to new friends. Relationship with family member often changes as teens become more independent, want to spend more time with friends, and sometimes question parental authority.

In the midst of these changes, messages about sexually activity seem to be everywhere. Music, television,radio,movies and advertising often convey the message that sexual activity is a necessary part of sexuality. Peer pressure, the influence of friends and others teens, may come with the mind -set of "everyone's doing it-why aren't you ?".
With such pressure, it's easy to lose sight of what's important. Dating -as a couples can help teen discover which qualities or characteristic in another person they find desirable. They can learn more about building relationships. Dating can be fun without hazards of becoming sexually active.
