I can see why people get 1, but outside the order of operations, we work left to right.
6 / 2 x (2+1) = 6 / 2 x 3 = 3 x 3 = 9
Not: 6 / 2 x (2+1) = 6 / 2 x 3 = 6 / 6 = 1

First the parentheses: 1+2 = 3
Then multiply: 2(3) = 6
Then divide: 6/6 = 1
The answer is "1"

Order of operation is PEMDAS "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally".
Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction.

  1. Parenthese (1+2 = 3)
  2. Multiplication 2(3)
  3. Division 6/6

The answer is "1"
