Rose Scrub - Teaching the future generation on 'How to help ourselves and mother earth'

in #ecotrain6 years ago
In today's world, our brains are overloaded with various kinds of beauty hacks. But it is entirely our choice on what do we choose to put over our bodies. Its not just us who are targets. But kids also fall into the traps because of television - they develop false beliefs that the beauty cream, shampoo and oils would do some kind of magic for them. Then it becomes responsibility of people they live with to make them believe in the magic of mother nature.

I have two nieces, 3 and 8 years old. They are at my home for their summer vacations and I decided to teach them on the value of keeping things natural and how it helps us in living a better life. Though the younger niece is too young to understand what I say but the older one gets it all. I, as an adult, use mostly natural products on my body - I hate buying expensive creams and commercial products only to put them on my body and intoxicate myself further.

Check here@Ecotrain and @Naturalmedicine has come up with a prompt where you can display you ideas of alternative consumption which are earth friendly and of-course health friendly.

Natural Rose Scrub - Alternative to commercial scrubs

What you need:

Sugar - For its exfoliating properties
Rose Petals - For its natural juices
Coconut Oil - For moisture
Clean Jar - To store the scrub
Clean tray - For mixing and crushing purpose.

We took some rose flowers. Then we used sugar and coconut oil to make scrub which can be used on any portion of body and can be stored in a cool place for 6 months.

We took some rose flowers and plucked the petals out. I made the younger niece a 'Plucker' and the older niece a 'Quality Inspector' where I asked her to make sure the younger one does everything nicely. I sat with them and did the same thing on another set of flowers.

After the freshest rose petals were plucked. We soaked them in water to clean them for any soil or dirt. Then we spread them on a clean tray.

Then we crushed the rose petals into smallest bits with our hands. It would help secrete the rose petals juices and fragrance.

Then comes the part of taking sugar and oil. We took them in the quantities that you see in below picture.

64A03076-74FC-4D3B-821E-E5D5CF8A2067.jpeg

Then we mixed it all well and put the scrub into a clean jar.

So we from rose petals we made rose scrub which is pretty amazing. My niece got excited and loved the idea. I made her bath with the scrub later and bathed myself too. This is my idea of alternative consumption where I don't need to opt for commercial products which are full of harmful chemicals.

The good part is when the my rose scrub goes out in drain after my use, it does not harm mother nature.

Woo-hoo

Beautiful tip!

Reading the title, I mistook it as someone called Rose Scrub is teaching something here. I was curious to know who this lady Rose is and read the entire post. Turned out that this Rose is a beautiful God - sent angel :)

hehehe no rose is no lady here, but the pretty rose flowers only.

Hmmmmmm.. what a wonderful idea! I had never thought to use the rose as bath scrub. I might give this a try. Thanks for sharing.. ❤

Oh yes give it a try :):)

Oh, feels like I'm being crushed! Hahaha... Just kidding!!

hahaha oh yeah you name is rose with a coach, sorry coach. hehe

Ah... I'm just kidding... hahaha

Very interesting tip:)

I love products with such simple recipes. Also, I'm a big fan of the smell of rose petals. Great job! I'm sure your niece is going to remember this the next time she is subjected to some advertisement about some expensive and toxic product that harms nature, is made by an exploitative company, which on top of all may not even have the promised effects.

Yeah me too love rose fragrance, exactly that is what I wanted to teach my niece, I wanted her to show how effective and amazing natural stuff can be. :)

Oh, this is so cute. I love the way you made one a plucker and one a quality inspector!! They must have LOVED doing this with you! I bet it smelt lovely too. I was thinking of making a facescrub today as I had run out of mine, sadly it's not rosepetal time of the year and I'll have to use some essential oils instead, or maybe some coffee grounds and vanilla as a body scrub which always smells delicious!

I used to make cough syrup with rose petal, it's very soothing for the throat.

wow cough syrup with rose petal, hearing it for first time, will read more about it on internet.

I see that's the secret of your beauty! :)

I have never lost my love for natural medicine. I have been looking for pure honey for a syrup.
Commercial expectorants cause me tachycardia.

Exactly, commercial ones come with some bad effects, natural works best.

It's wonderful that you teach kids the real knowledge!

Yeah it was good experience for me as well :) a win win

Roses are one of my favourite ingredients to work with - lovely recipe and truly wonderful that you are teaching and sharing your knowledge.

Yeah Roses are amazing, thankyou for stopping by :)

It looks so gorgeous! Thanks for sharing this recipe. I'm definitely going to try it. I love roses and coconut oil.

Oh yes, give it a shot :)

Ooh! I love the fragrance of rose - I add the essential oil to my bath. That scrub sounds divine. I must try to make some when we have roses again.

Oh yes the rose scrub would be amazing experience for you.

Thanks)) It's cool recipe. And if the rose petals are replaced by other flowers? After all, the technology will remain the same?

Yeah I think with other flowers too, technology will remain same. Not sure about the effects it will have on your face :P totally depends on the flower.

Very nice how to post! It is nice to be able to make our own products with the free items that nature provides to do the same and even better than what we would buy in the stores.
Plus with using flowers, the scent is natural and better smelling.

Well done on showing the kids what to do. Very important for them to carry on these teachings.

Yeah I too love all factors here - free flowers from nature, and natural scent. :):) My nieces also loved it.
thank you for stopping by :)

Thanks a lot ..useful information

This sounds wonderful, I can smell the roses through my phone @vibesforlife 💕

Posted using Partiko Android

hehe good to know you can smell them through your phone :P :)

My mom also made homemade creams and perfumed them herself, lovely you have given a recipe to share, will have to try this myself, thanks @vibesforlife

Homemade creams and perfuming them sounds good. thanks for stopping by :):)

I love that it was a group project! Fantastic! :)

Glad you liked it :)

Wow! I really appreciate you do that diy thing but, for me, this might not be very practical because, the petals might start clogging my drains and, one of the things that I hate doing is cleaning up after myself after having a bath. I prefer to do the cleaning up before the bath.

Oh yes, this happened with me too, after that glorious bath that my niece and I had, I had to clean too :( that is a painful part.
