Is Britain About to Go Bust Again?

In this report I talk about the economic and financial condition of the U.K. and how sterling or the British pound is flashing warning signs.

I note that the last time we had a major heatwave in the U.K. was in 1976 which also happened to be the last time the country went bust and to go to the IMF to get a bailout. Coincidentally in 2018 we are experiencing another major heatwave and sterling is in a precarious state after years of reckless fiscal and monetary policy.

Like in 1976 we have a great deal of uncertainties politically and financially. Back in the 1970's the U.S. dismantled the Bretton Woods system and the Labour government of the day (1976) was a vey weak one. Today we face all the uncertainty surrounding Brexit and Trade Wars and the government of the day is also very weak and incompetent.

My conclusion is that like 1976, 2018 could turn out to be a critical year for Britain and its financial future.
