The Arctic part of which 11,000 scientists from 130 countries are referring to is called 'The Last Ice Area'. It is the oldest and stable snow area in the world. However, it is now melting at double the speed.
The Last Ice Area, which was 41.43 lakh sq km in 2016, has now come down to 9.99 lakh sq km. If it keeps melting at the same speed, by 2030, the ice from here will melt and end.
Scientist Kent Moore of the University of Toronto reported that the Arctic has melted about 5 feet of snow since the 1970s. It is clear that about 1.30 feet of snow is melting every 10 years. In such a situation, the water level of the sea is expected to increase rapidly.
Melting of the Arctic will cause a drastic change in the weather around Greenland and Canada. There will also be increased heat. Its effect will be seen all over the world. In 'The Last Ice Area' the ice is melting at more than double the speed.
