League of Legends is a growing e-sports community and is really a booming industry. The viewership is continuously increasing because of increasing number of players playing League. And because of this factor, NBA teams such as Cleveland Cavaliers, Houston Rockets and Golden States Warriors franchised teams for them to compete for the North America League of Legends Championship Series (NALCS) Spring Split 2018.
These are the teams of the specific NBA teams that participated in NALCS Spring Split 2018:
100 Thieves
This team is franchised by the Call of Duty pro-turned-celebrity Matthew "Nadeshot" Haag and NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers. This roster consist of:
Kim "Ssumday" Chan-ho as the Top Laner,
William "Meteos" Hartman as the Jungler,
Yoo "Ryu" Sang-wook as the Mid Laner,
Cody Sun as the AD Carry and
Zaqueri "aphromoo" Black as the Support
with pr0lly as the Head Coach of the team. This team made into the finals that faced Team Liquid but loses to them in 3-0 fashion. Even though they lost the finals to Team Liquid, they are the newly-franchised team to ever made into the finals of NALCS. They're the second placer and will represent NA in Mid-Season Invitational 2018.
Clutch Gaming
This team was franchised by the Houston Rockets as their e-sports venture. The roster of Clutch Gaming is composed of:
Colin "Solo" Earnest as the Top Laner,
Nam "LirA" Tae-yoo as the Jungler,
Fabian "Febiven" Diepstraten as the Mid Laner,
Apollo Price as the AD Carry and
Nickolas "Hakuho" Surgent as the Support
with their team's coach David "DLim" Lim. This team beat the 5-time NALCS champion Team SoloMid in the quarterfinals with a score of 3-2. They moved into the 3rd place match where they could represent NA in MSI but unfortunately, they lost to Echo Fox and finished 4th place.
Golden Guardians
This team was franchised by the Golden State Warriors and was one of the teams that has been awarded a slot in the NALCS Spring Split 2018. The roster of this team is composed of:
Samson "Lourlo" Jackson as the Top Laner,
Juan Arturo "Contractz" Garcia as the Jungler,
Hai Du Lam as the Mid Laner,
Matthew "Deftly" Chen as the AD Carry and
Matthew "Matt" Elento as the Support
along their head coach Tyler "Akiri" Perron. Sadly their run in the Spring Split 2018 is not really good. They end the regular split with 4-14 record.
This franchise of teams will surely go a long way but they need to do well next split for them to progress and make it to the top and be one of the teams to be the first newly-franchised to ever be the NALCS champion.
