After reading @jreilly99's post yesterday about Ben Simmons it had me thinking who the Sixers could trade Ben Simmons for. The two big names I've seen are Damian Lillard and Steph Curry, and some other names that have been floating around as well. I'll talk about those players and others that I would like to see on the Sixers roster next year.
First, Steph Curry, I'm getting this one out of the way early because I don't think there is a slight chance the Sixers sign him. Although I would love to have him, I can't see the Warriors parting ways with their future hall of famer, no matter how good the package is. They just drafted James Wiseman in the first round and have two lottery picks this year, giving them a decent chance to rebuild through the draft and make a run to the finals again, if they draft will of course.
Next, is my personal favorite, Damian Lillard. He wants out of Portland so it's perfect for Dame time in Philly! He's everything the Sixers need, a scoring guard, clutch, and most importantly can shoot the ball (crazy that I had to type that talking about a professional basketball players). With Lillard he won't clog the lane like Ben does and will be able to take some of the load of Embiid. With Joel being injury prone it will be good to know if he gets hurt the Sixers will have someone who can score in his absence. He also brings the mentality the sixes are missing in my opinion. Once Jimmy Butler left I felt there wasn't the character in the team, in terms of leaving it all on the floor and constantly improving. Although I could be wrong as I'm not in the locker room, it's merely my observation. I don't think the Sixers would have blown any of the leads they had with Jimmy Butler or Damian Lillard on the team. Realistically speaking the Sixers are going to have to give up a lot for him, I think Ben, Thybulle, Maxey, and one or two first round picks will have to be sent to Portland. If there is a deal the Sixers are going to make I hope it is for this guy, he is the real deal. Plus he can shoot!
I have also seen other names like Luka Doncic and Zach Lavine, but I don't think any of those deals will happen. But, the last scenario I think is worth mentioning is Ben developing a shot. We all know how good Ben is already, so I think if he can actually develop a shot and take shots in the game, it might just be worth testing this group again. This scenario is Ben actually shooting the ball not just him doing it in practice and never attempting it in game.
I really like this group of players so I hope the last scenario of Ben developing a shot is the scenario we end up seeing but if not than give us Dame! We first handedly dealt with Same Hinkie, and he was a disciple of Daryl Morey so we could be in for an exciting summer.
As much as I would like Dame, I am not sure I would be willing to part with that much to get him. I think the more likely scenario is that the Sixers put the pieces in place internally to help Ben develop his shot.
No shot we get Dame, though I would love to see it happen. I think that the most likely outcome is getting some pieces from the Spurs like Dejounte Murray. We need a scoring PG as much as I think Ben brings to the table. I think our offense lacks creativity that you see in Golden State or from teams that have great offensive schemes. We need to keep it basic and find someone to dominate a pick and roll with Embiid the way that Jokic and Jamal do it in Denver
Not sure what you're reading that Dame wants out of Portland, but by all accounts he doesn't. It's apparent that he's getting frustrated with Portland's roster construction, but there is no way the Blazers trade him.
Ben Simmons ain't going no where
They have to train him to perfect his shots.
