I am just a Mom with a silly sense of humor who is starting from nothing. I don't even own a camera. In fact the cell phone that films my content is not even mine. It belongs to my daughter. It was her 10th birthday gift. She got it at the end of Feb. 2018 and we joined Steemit on March 12! With out that cell I would not be able to make the little videos that I do make. I am not a pro and I know I never will be. And that is ok with me. I am having fun and that is all that matters to me. I think you will be amazed at the functionality of the GoPro, wide shots for getting more scenery and video stabilization that works pretty well. I record in 720p 60fps so I can edit on my phone using the GoPro Quik app I suggest you check that out also, almost completely auto edits and free use music built right into the app good for YouTube cross promotion 😉... I suggest you use it in the car with a quick magnetic mount so your not holding the phone(tisk tisk) I don’t want to see you get into legal trouble over that.
This is my mobile setup... scosche suction-cup magnetic mount with the flat mounting plate for GoPro easy setup adjustment and take down. Remember to set audio on “stereo only” and video stabilization on.

One is @steemflagrewards that rewards steemians for finding and flagging bad content. The other is @steemitbd, who work to help support new users in bangladesh and guide them on the steem blockchain, this helps with retention and encourages them to create good value content.
I've taken a break from my @dtube videos, but I plan to start again soon once I am back in London and get my camera all setup. I really like your #dtubesnap initiative. It seems to have captured the imagination of many people.
As a creator the engagement to me is like the fire in a steam engine (maybe a steem engine in this case) it fuels me to make more content and lets me know the content I’m making is being watched (as it’s intended for)
You’re right people shouldn’t be dropping links or unrelated comments looking for upvotes or to promote & at the moment there’s a lot to be sorted out on this platform if it is to become a viable challenge to mainstream sites. The very thing that makes this unique compared to main steam sites is the same thing that is causing lack luster engagement & people trying to cheat the system. Being rewarded for content is a privilege not a right.
I intend making a video about exactly this but going to leave it until my days off as I want to do it justice and not rush it out. I’ve got some other ideas for videos meanwhile.

I think this would be a question for @ned, I know they can make adjustment to the RC system without needing to replay the entire chain but I’m not certain they have really looked at the possibilities of using it combined with flags for spam cleanup. Essentially larger accounts would remain safe unless faced with a massive coordinated attack so I don’t see to much problem with implementing punishments using RC.
I spent 9 hours and $100, time and energy thinking about bringing something creative to the blockchain that spurs engagement, inspired by your 7777 delegation announcement, REA[d]. Now you are saying that engagement is specific to new people and only to help new people grow? What about for entertainment's sake? @dtube upset me today. Really worked hard on something, they do not upvote quality. I don't "need" the upvote and I have received many votes because I do this for fun. It is just hard to know what is considered quality content these days. Very sad.
Do you remember that I got sad few months back when I worked so hard to promote Dtube in London and I got upset with no upvote from Drtube and posted the video and you and @reseller and @d00k13 responded.
Dtube is the community and there are good people out here and we'll be here with you.

Judgement of quality and completion on a piece of art comes not from the consumer but rather the creator. I consider my works to be therapeutic therefore they may as well be art.
Oops, didn't mean to send that last comment yet. 100% agree. You are right. So the question is, how do we raise our collective standards and pride in content. Also, dtube changed how they voted, I thought. Isn't there a board of people who view content and vote on it?

So the problem remains chasing the vote will only make you sour when not receiving it. I think of the vote not in dollar terms but just as recognition for my efforts in what I create. The pride in content creation and standards to go with it still remain in the hands of the creator. I take the approach of encouragement through constructive criticisms for the sake of the author and myself because I learn as much from people as I try teach.
How do we raise the bar? I believe this will happen naturally over time, as more people flood in there will be less votes to go around and that team of curators will have to become more selective thus the challenge falls back to the creator of expanding their abilities. I can see a day when even I will have to really put something amazing together to receive recognition for my efforts but that may not mean being professional with editing but for me it relates more to the layers within my creations. This mornings vlog I picked a spot so I had a fallen tree to relate my message to, things like that.
I still believe timing has a lot to do with it, if you upload in a period with many other videos of equal or better “quality” (I use that term loosely) then your immediately faced with higher competition for the vote thus someone will inevitably be overlooked. I believe there are many factors that play into receiving that vote and the focus on audio or video production quality is only a baseline, message has just as much to do with it.
I got a lot of help here because guys read about my compliant and were able to provide help. I think when people post what is engaging it attracts people.

This was a much needed change. A couple of weeks ago the engagement was disappointingly low. Now it's a whole nother story.
My first video ever got an incredible amount of love/support and I think that most of it can be attributed to your initiative to increase real, honest engagement. + the commentts I made on other peoples content made them come to my content which is nice to see that they actually care.

Mostly because of my broken english and bad memory. Hard to keep up the train of thoughts sometimes but I'll keep doing my best to be a little bit better every day.
I'm glad you think that way! I wish the day had more than 24h so that I can watch more dtube content and engage more. The reactions I got so far were nothing but positive and I feed of positivity as it inspires and invites more positivity in my life.
What he said gave me a completely nother perspective on my accent and it was truly empowering minute. Think that I can now dissregard the fact I'm not the best at English and work towards becoming better at it.

I have noticed a small spike in engagement among people who follow you. I think we all can make a difference by commenting great comments on people's post. I especially stuck here in the beginning because of the encouragement I got from amazing people like @kawaiicrush and I try do the same for others.
Absolutely right. We need to encourage new comers through our add value to them. New comers need to learn more things also we have chance to learn from them. Dtubers like our family. So must needed collaboration.

Gonna take Lots of work to make Steemit work. And no one wants to work!...so this could take a long while. Or just miss the boat all together.
I have always been a thinker. I am also fascinated by people, and all of the beautiful different walks of life. So when I see their content I literally soak it in and absorb them. I want to know more, I want to discover the person.. I need to know how the story ends.. which is why I watch until the end. And if I can't I let them know because I want to be honest with people. I did this long before Steemit on YouTube.. and there were no rewards involved there for me. I also enjoy the process of sharing my thoughts. I am a very expressive and passionate person. So being able to share what is on my mind is never a chore and always a pleasure. I really enjoy all of you I only wish I had more free time to be able to do more out here. My long term goal is to become a full time Steemian/DTuber some day. Then I can give fully of myself. Until then I think I invest at least 4 hours a day.. sometimes a little more or less depending on my editing that day, and how long the videos are that I am watching. Also a little tip for anyone reading this is that if you want to consume content and have trouble finding the time.. what I do is I open a few windows of things that I am interested in. Then one at a time while I do a household task, paper work, or even paint my nails I watch.. this way I can kill two birds with one stone. I find it makes my chores fun because I have something to listen to while I do them. Also I get to see what all of you are up to at the same time. Talk soon Nathan & to all of my Steemian friends <3

This isn't just a touch and go investment, when we do it right Steemit will grow to be such a powerful force! Thanks for the kind words! I definitely need as much encouragement as I can get in my beginnings. Every beginning is hard, and this was one of the hardest things I've done in a while now.
Mostly because of my broken english and bad memory. Hard to keep up the train of thoughts sometimes but I'll keep doing my best to be a little bit better every day.
I'm glad you think that way! I wish the day had more than 24h so that I can watch more dtube content and engage more. The reactions I got so far were nothing but positive and I feed of positivity as it inspires and invites more positivity in my life.

I have noticed a small spike in engagement among people who follow you. I think we all can make a difference by commenting great comments on people's post. I especially stuck here in the beginning because of the encouragement I got from amazing people like @kawaiicrush and I try do the same for others.

I have always been a thinker. I am also fascinated by people, and all of the beautiful different walks of life. So when I see their content I literally soak it in and absorb them. I want to know more, I want to discover the person.. I need to know how the story ends.. which is why I watch until the end. And if I can't I let them know because I want to be honest with people. I did this long before Steemit on YouTube.. and there were no rewards involved there for me. I also enjoy the process of sharing my thoughts. I am a very expressive and passionate person. So being able to share what is on my mind is never a chore and always a pleasure. I really enjoy all of you I only wish I had more free time to be able to do more out here. My long term goal is to become a full time Steemian/DTuber some day. Then I can give fully of myself. Until then I think I invest at least 4 hours a day.. sometimes a little more or less depending on my editing that day, and how long the videos are that I am watching. Also a little tip for anyone reading this is that if you want to consume content and have trouble finding the time.. what I do is I open a few windows of things that I am interested in. Then one at a time while I do a household task, paper work, or even paint my nails I watch.. this way I can kill two birds with one stone. I find it makes my chores fun because I have something to listen to while I do them. Also I get to see what all of you are up to at the same time. Talk soon Nathan & to all of my Steemian friends <3

Such wise words, beautiful!! It's true at the end of the day the whole purpose of community is engagement, it's the heart of growth. This isn't just a touch and go investment, when we do it right Steemit will grow to be such a powerful force! Yeah, I agree as engaging is something which profits both sides the one who engages and the one being engaged because one person gets to learn something new and the other increases his/her own knowledge.
