DTube - Error while submitting to blockchain

in #dtubehelp7 years ago (edited)

I have made an update to the original posting as of 01/24/2018 and it is crunched down to just identify how I resolved it and no speculation(s).

I log in with a private posting key...

Hit the cloud upload icon and dragged a video over to begin posting...

Screenshot (4).png

Everything in the Title auto-fills and the description is from a series on #fakenews, so it's mostly copy and paste. The snap is uploaded and recognized and the video soon reaches the end of its upload and begins processing...

Screenshot (5).png

Adding Source to IPFS (IPFS) - CHECK!
Creating Sprite (Sp) - CHECK!
Adding Sprite to IPFS (Sp+IPFS) - CHECK!
Encoding to F480p (F480p) - CHECK!

Screenshot (6).png

Then when it gets to 'Adding F480p to IPFS' (F480p+IPFS)- POOF! It's time to enter in the Steemit Article Body and Tags...

Screenshot (7).png

I hit submit...

Screenshot (8).png

ERROR!! Do you notice the Tags? I used a Hash (#) on each.

Screenshot (9).png

I downloaded and used Opera along with the changes suggested;

Here's what I would type in as tags. The hashtags (#)need to go buh-bye.

Screenshot (25a).png

So that they look like this;

Screenshot (25).png

Just have at least ONE (suggested by many: dtube)and after it's entered in and processed, to edit further, go to your Steemit Blog and edit it there.

Thanks for all the help in figuring this out

SUGGESTIONS FOR DTUBE:

It did show that it was acquiring a token for the upload (It should confirm this visually - just a suggestion).
The processing should NOT fade away. Keep it up! It's NOT cumbersome and it does provide finality to DTube being done with processing the videos and ready to submit to a blockchain.

I've tried every suggestion on here and uploading is still hit or miss for me. Any other suggestions?

@giuato I have had the blockchain error occur on the latest video I uploaded to #dtube, and it was remedied by putting in 4 tags. Sometimes it wants to be fed I guess. Started with one, then two, then three then four tags ah ah ah. Like the count from Sesame Street.

I'll give it a shot! I did remember specifically trying 4 tags and 1 tag, but maybe if I try every amount of tags, one of them will work, haha

Update: I have tried to use 0-5 tags and I still get an error.

@giuato Did you use all lowercase and words connected? Then you can edit in the blog. Someone also mentioned using the sidebar to select upload and if not, then relogging in

Make sure you are not using # on the tags. I removed them from mine and the upload/submission was then successful.

Hello. I try to remove # but it steel the same problem.

It is only ONE of the solutions. The error is very general and several things can cause it. Read through the other comments here and try them out until you get it to work.

There may be a few more things I have been doing as SOP for DTube; I aways make sure I have the title I want for the video as the title of the file: For example - white.mp4 is the title of the file and when I upload it DTube automatically inputs white as the title.

It might help to have the description typed on another app and then just copy it to the body. It's bizarre, but the less interaction with the DTube cloud while uploading the better.

I only input one tag, and then after snap is uploaded I hit submit and it works out okay so far.

This was the key for me,

Thanks mate!

You do know that the video has to be compressed first? We can't simply up load it like we can on YouTube. I'm using Handbreak to compress my video's.

Tags MUST be "single" words like someone suggested... and it has to have at LEAST 1 TAG or it will give you "error while submitting to blockchain"

Actually it will give you that error even with 1 tag.

Screen Shot 2018-01-24 at 15.07.28.png

I did a post and video about it. https://steemit.com/dtube/@phoneinf/dtube-is-having-big-upload-problems-error-while-submitting-to-the-blockchain

Sometimes it just stops to load the next step as well. This one is stuck and been for hours.

Screen Shot 2018-01-24 at 15.10.18.png

This is happening both in Google Chrome and Firefox browser.

it is really strange and annoying, but my error was fixed by only using 1 tag "dtube"

Nice to hear you got that working. Worked eventually for me on PC. Seems to be very random. When it works and when it doesn't. I suspect it's because the growth Steemit has seen the last couple of weeks in new users!

yours is not all lower case if you notice from the screenshot

OH; I'll try that; I thought we just used keywords (like youtube)
Thanks!

thanks for this, i tried several days and always had that error. no it works again :) kudos

Same thing happened to me and I was only using 1 tag...

So I tried everything and nothing worked until I added one tag by typing it (not copy and paste) all lowercase. Also, I noticed that the video file title I was uploading had spaces so I removed the spaces and added a dash. It finally worked!

You have to compress the video first. We can't just simply drag and drop or upload like we do n YouTube. I'm using Handbreak to compress my video's.

Actually you are wrong. You can just drag the videos actually, you don't even need to compress the video beforehand. I have tested without compression and it works, must be something wrong on your end.

Yeah, I never compress mine either. There may be a few more things I have been doing as SOP for DTube; I aways make sure I have the title I want for the video as the title of the file: For example - white.mp4 is the title of the file and when I upload it DTube automatically inputs white as the title.

how sad me too.. Error while submitting to the blockchain

@xvisualx I have made an update to the original posting as of 01/24/2018 and it is crunched down to just identify how I resolved it and no speculation(s)....

I initially put # tags in. When I removed the hashtag and just put in the single word lowercase tags, it went through successfully.

arrrrrrgh getting this same error!

@castlebravo @gamewalkthroughs I have made an update to the original posting as of 01/24/2018 and it is crunched down to just identify how I resolved it and no speculation(s).

Me also.
I've been having this problem since yesterday.

@meansunlare I have made an update to the original posting as of 01/24/2018 and it is crunched down to just identify how I resolved it and no speculation(s).

nice one man thanks

I'm having the same error since last night. So frustrating :/

@naturald I have made an update to the original posting as of 01/24/2018 and it is crunched down to just identify how I resolved it and no speculation(s)...

Well, I uploaded a few videos successfully but now I always get the red box. I tried everything here to no avail. Tags are lower case single words with no hashtags. I've tried everything between 0 and 5 tags. Nothing works. Back to youtube and dailymotion I guess...

@darth-azrael I have had the blockchain error occur on the latest video I uploaded to #dtube, and it was remedied by putting in 4 tags. Sometimes it wants to be fed I guess. Started with one, then two, then three then four tags ah ah ah. Like the count from Sesame Street.

What ended up fixing it for me was logging out and logging back in.

That actually solved it, thanks, could be coincidence though.

Thank you so much for this solution. I removed the # from my tags and it worked. A bug report / feature change request needs to be submitted to the DTube team.
Since upvoting this article now after the seven day payout doesn't earn you anything, I'm going to send you some SBD directly to say thanks. =)

I found out that the problem for me what in the tags, I was using . which was causing the issue.

I have the same problem. Changing the tags did not help either.

I got it to work. I will post it soon and show the difference I made according to @sovereignking and what was misunderstood by @rockyb.music. I am going to try it once more and see if there is any pause first.

Here is a video on how to fix this issue.

getting this same error!
but this seems not to be related on the Videoformat. I Uploaded A Video which I could not upload in the morning,

Good point. I downloaded Chrome, Opera, Mozilla and even used the Edge - each keep giving me a blockchain error and the gears drop down at the top of each say in IPFS Settings_Local Settings -> You are not running IPFS.

maybe coincidence
but after I changed the Tags under the description to single Words
eg. "FL Studio" --> "FL-Studio",
the Upload worked

I always use lower case with words connected like "fake news" --> fakenews and the uploads still won't generate an SAB and VML. I watched each upload prior to having problems. I would do a quick check in the advanced section to see if any portion was unfilled before hitting submit. Lately though the VML has been empty as well as the SAB. Occams razor, censorship.

as i sayed, maybe coincidence
but I managed to upload 8 Videos this morning without an error after i changed the Tags to single or connected words

@rockyb.music provided a good understanding of hash tags. I appreciate the interaction.

@pavelnunez or @rockyb.music Are you able to share the 'IPFS settings' on your upload page? Mine indicates "you are not running IPFS" in the 'local IPFS'.

Could this prevent an upload?

thanks for all the great suggestions. I will be giving it a go again later this evening.

I have been having this issue as well. I too think that it's random, because sometimes I can upload my videos and sometimes I can't .logojpg.jpg

thankyou so much for this. That error has been doing my head in. Can't believe it was just the hashtags....

I also cant upload videos to dtube. I not even get an error, it will just take forever to submit the video to the blockchain.

@howtogamedev I have made an update to the original posting as of 01/24/2018 and it is crunched down to just identify how I resolved it and no speculation(s).

The same problem with my video too...it s annoying...since yesterday...nothing works!

did it end up working for you?
i still keep getting the same error

I found that it would only accept 1 tag. Any more and I got the evil red box!
After it was submitted, I could edit it to use extra tags.

@ligayagardener I have made an update to the original posting as of 01/24/2018 and it is crunched down to just identify how I resolved it and no speculation(s).

Awesome! Thanks forletting me know!

I could only get it to work with one tag. After that I tried to edit to add more tags and the error just kept coming up. Guess I better make that one tag the best tag it can be.

@jroy I have made an update to the original posting as of 01/24/2018 and it is crunched down to just identify how I resolved it and no speculation(s).

It finally worked I just kept trying "submit" without changing anything once a minute as I was commenting on here, eventually it went through. Sounds like the service might be overloaded...

FACING SAME PROBLEM. REMOVED EVERY TAG, # , ANY COMPLICATED SYMBOLS. EVEN THEN BLOCKCHAIN ERROR. HOW TO FIX IT. PLZ SUGGEST

Something that might help people that isn't posted anywhere iv seen is, along with steemit, Dtube also goes by the rule of posting every 5 min or more between posts. So if you are having this message come up and you just posted something in either dtube or steemit wait 5 min between posts.

This whole process is infuriating. I've tried everything. I've watched every video of "how to upload to dtube" I've looked up every variation of "error submitting to blockchain", I've encoded and destroyed my videos multiple times trying to get them to upload, stopped posting for a few days, even went and bought steem power and nothing will let me upload my videos! I've uploaded multiple videos in the past but every single time this week I've got the same message. This is ridiculous! How are people going to adopt a platform if they end up spending days making a video to post and then hours typing up a story for the video just for it to reject it every time?

same for me. it is a joke

Been trying to upload one video for the past week and still can't do it!

Can't find any solutions that work!

Still having this issue..

I think it might be D.tube as so many people are having all sorts of issues

There may be a few more things I have been doing as SOP for DTube; I aways make sure I have the title I want for the video as the title of the file: For example - white.mp4 is the title of the file and when I upload it DTube automatically inputs white as the title.

I only input one tag, and then after snap is uploaded I hit submit and it works out okay so far. REMEMBER all lower case - autocorrect may make the first letter capital on tags.

Thanks for the outline. It looks like the hashtags were causing the error. I hope people know that you have to Compress your video's first. Handbreak works well for compressing your video's. Also, I used to just Link my video's in Steemit itself. I noticed that the video's from DTube are automatically added to your Steemit. I guess if people just want to use DTube then they'll see your video there.

I've uploaded 10 videos without compressing, Why do I have to start compressing?

I've had the same error for a week. tried everything, It is fucking useless.

The thing that seems to fix it for me is logging out and logging in again between every upload. Which is a fix that SUCKS!!!!

I just face this problem now, when i tried to find a solution on the Internet, I get your article .. My issue solved by removing the TAGS and replace it with only 4 tags not including other cryptocurrency names like Ethereum, litecoin and etc.. Try and hope it solved
here is my video

I had this issue quite often. Resolved by logging out then log back in. Uploaded straight away & went through with no blockchain red box.

wtf I just want to upload.... and it won't let me.

Annoying. I have not tried everything. I'm about to give up.

still have this error :/

i tried all methods but not anyone work

have read almost every comment and of course the post too, still dont have the answer. hopefuly dtube will fix this soon, by now just waiting.

I got it to work 100% guaranteed.

  1. Upload video
  2. Upload Image
  3. Put in ONE tag
  4. Hit submit.

After video is uploaded, add in your description and title.

Thanks for this. I used Brave browser and 4 tags. It's working now.

I am tired of it...each time it show the same "unknown error" then how can I know what to fix or remove.

I tried by deleting tags, once it worked and another time it showed the same error.
