I think the "lame" announcement has to to with the new regulations coming for dapps, my last post about (incl. a link to the whole PDF).
It's still not sure Americans can be included in earning tokens.
But the concept is great and it will attract the masses and they know a huge marketing campaign is necessary and they will do.
Nobody can know the impact of voice on Steem right now.
But the dapp developers of Steem should think now, it's really time, how they handle these new regulations.

That's a great point! Better to be cautious in what they are promising vs. shooting themselves in the foot by catching unwanted attention of lawmakers.
