I agree with you! The ceiling paint peeling like that could mean that it's old, in fact I know that it is old, but they could have possibly painted it with the wrong paint? It makes it peel quicker.

There certainly is a lot of food and much as I do the Ukraine, English is not prevalent. However, there seems to be a fair share of English speaking people. Ten years ago it wasn't nearly so and there wasn't as much in the food department, although that may have just been where I traveled. They certainly do have a nice mix of eateries there and I am glad that you did not need to use the Ukraine that you know!
