Be Thankful Today

in #dtube5 years ago

Hello,

How about feeling a little bit more thankful today?

Let me start with a little story.

Imagine with me.

We are in a jungle, there is a river in front of us and the water is gushing through it slowly. There is a white Swan in the river swimming. By the side of the river, there is a tree with one of its branches hanging a little down right above the river. Over that branch, a crow is sitting. A hunter comes in, with a cage and sits by the side of the tree. In the cage is a beautiful peacock captured by the hunter.

So now we have our picture and our three characters.

The white swan - swimming in the river
The black Crow - sitting on the tree branch
The beautiful peacock - Captured in a cage and sitting by the side of the river

The white swan looks at the peacock and think "How beautiful is this peacock, her life must be a cakewalk, its pretty and has all those vibrant pretty colors on its body, everybody must be so loving and kind to her. What am I, I am plain white, so dull and boring, lifeless" With this thought, the Swan kept swimming.

The Peacock is looking at the crow sitting on the tree branch and is thinking "Crow's life is so amazing, he can fly to where ever he want. No one can capture him, wish I could fly and then I would have been able to run away from this cruel hunter. I want to be free and I want to fly, what a pity I am with my stupid big feathers." The peacock keeps thinking this and sinks into emotions of sadness.

The crow who is sitting on the tree branch looks at the white Swan swimming in the water and thinks "How white, pure white like Angles in heaven, swimming in water with its pure white body, even the shadow in water must be a happiness to the Swan, what an amazing life". And here I am, with this black scary body, no body wants to even talk to me, everybody shooes me away because of my black color. Wish I could be little more like Swan and I could be happy seeing my reflection in the water.

You see in the story we have three characters - The Swan, the peacock and the crow. Each of them has their own uniqueness to them. But rather looking at what they have and making the most out if, all they are doing it - is looking at others and thinking wish I could have been like them. It happens with all of us. At some points in our lives, we compare ourselves to others, we think of having what they have.

But are we doing justice with the gifts that God has gifted us with?

Each of us is unique. Imagine when humans came into picture, the evolution of humans on earth. It was 66 million years ago to be very exact. Since then, you have never been repeated. The way you look, the way you think, the way you feel, the ideas that you can give, the perceptions you make. Everything is unique.

Though I wrote down my crispy story for people who would like to read rather than listen :)

Awww, this is so sweet. My aunty is going through a tough depression at the moment, and told my parents she had always been jealous of them.. they realised that's why she was a bit rude over the years when they had any success. She is very unhappy because of it. Imagine how much happier she would be if she could be thankful for the wonderful things that SHE has. I loved listening to you!!

Right, it happens with many people around. They sink into emotions like jealously and make their own lives negative. If they focus on what they have and be happy for others, the universe will send loads of love to them too.

Always be grateful.

hehe thanks :)

Yeah I tried to make it go in one go this time, :)

Karma is all about what we have, there is no point complaining about it. There is nothing like Good or Bad, it is depends upon our perception and how we see or life. Do not be the member of the 99 Club, Just be happy and thanks to God whatever you have.

Lovely comment, agreed 100%

Wonderful

I have always thought that when people don't have problems then they create them. A good part of life consists in paying attention to your blessings and being grateful, because even the richest people, if they don't understand this, they'll feel that they always lack something.

Exactly. People are too busy looking at what others have, rather than appreciating their own fortunes

thanks for visiting. :)

A great story here about gratitude my friend!
The world entices our thoughts to always have desires. All humans are born with a "want" and the designs are to lure people into getting what they want, but they never do.
Once one starts to control this want, then one can appreciate what they have. To know thyself is the answer. The Swan can never be a Peacock and the same with the others. Just so it is the same with us.
Control the want or live a life of bitterness!
Blessings!

Beautiful comment, The Swan can never be peacock and vice-versa, you got my message there :)

Thankyou for stopping by :)

This is a very good message! We need to make the most of our unique characteristics, and appreciate others without being envious. 👍

Exactly :)

Thanks for sharing this gyan with a beautiful story. Is this story originally written by you or it's just a narration?

My problem is a bit different. This story has two parts:

  1. Everyone appreciate something in others.
  2. Then they "want" that "something" themselves.

My problem is that I fail at step-1 itself. So don't get an experience of step-2. But I'd like to master the step-1. Any suggestions for me?

I heard this story somewhere in a book 5 6 years ago, then i did not remeber anything except there was a peacock and a swan, then i just made it up in my mind keeping in mind the message I want to dleiver.

Everyone does not appreciate something in others - they are looking at what others have and appreciate it in a way that they want it for themselves.

The crow can never be swan, the peacock can never be crow and the swan can never be peacock - this is true with people - most of us are looking at what others have and think wish I be that. But rather the they should look at their characteristic and make the most out of it.

Suggestion for you - keep your focus at yourself and make the most out of your talents.

Great, you are really a good story-teller! You can write your own stories too. No, don't write some Panchtantra ...but your own mantra :)

hehe yes own mantra :)
