Recently, I decided to upload my videos to D.tube and Steemit, before I upload them to YouTube. And even though it’s only been a few days, I want to just compare the YouTube experience with the Dtube experience. I’m going to look at several aspects of the platforms and compare and contrast them. The categories I will be looking at today are Layout, Tags, Community Guidelines, Monetization Model, and Uploader.
I finally got this to upload on Dtube. My advice: don't try to upload your snapshot or tags until the video has completed uploading. I find this helps the uploader along.

I'm rooting for DTUBE to do really well! At one point, I was getting over $130 in ad revenue from my videos on YT but now I barely break $20 a month (I have close to 5k subs as of right now).

I recently got to know about Dtube and imo the concept is freakin' awesome! It has a lot more motivation for every individual user, which you can see in the overall mood in the community! Everyone is, at least for now, a lot more helpful and friendly than the people on YT.

I'm glad that you can share your real opinion on Dtube and be rewarded for that. Nice exposure of pros and cons of each platform, we all know Dtube is in very early stage, we can call it beta. I think better times are about to come in the future !!

As we all understand the past few year shave been crazy with Youtube, First when it came out after google
bought it out for 1.6 billion the platform went crazy with all the video of cats then it blew to be such a great
platform for free speech, where everybody could express themselves freely .Google made it even better since one could get paid for the content they provided.

Fast forward 2017 the things have gone from bad to crazy with all the sensorship and besides the sensorship Google
has been using people's content to further their business in advertising and with just minimal payment .
For instance @jerryBanfield who has a following of 217k gets paid at least $20 a month for the content he creates.
These may or many not be true but all the same all those who are in these space knows that its been crazy because they
were also affected by the same sensorship.

On the other hand thank God for 2017 and for steemit these has been such an incredible year because of dtube ,
as we all know dtube allows one to upload content without any sonsorship since the platform is decetralised and the beauty of it is that we all get paid by the people themselves.
It wont be long before more people could realize what a great platform steemit has just provided .these is just the beginning . dtube could dethrone to come out as the number one platform of the centurery even as tings continue to be decentralized .

Try different file formats. I noticed that any windows media player formats do not work.

it uploads ok but when clicking the submit button after everything has been done, It seems to hang and take along time, Ive left it for 30 min to 1hr but nothing.
Found the problem I was using Edge but I switched to the latest version of Firefox and it works.

How NSFW is handled by default can be changed in your user settings over at steemit.
Id assume this will either soon apply on dtube as well or it will save your selection id hope. It might even a be a bug that it doesnt apply crosssite.
Yeah, censorship wont happen. Yes, it might not be promoted as heavily if its downvoted by a whale, but that also drives down their voting power, and in effect its how you make money, by selling your steem$ to someone who wants to do it. I mostly looked at subscriptions on youtube anyways, id assume it will eventualy be very similar here as soon as enough people will be using the platform. Also, as the entire community accumulates more steem this will become a smaller issue. But the actual contributors(that includes comments and the like), at least the ones which are upvoted, will allways be in total more powerful as at least 50% of the steem is put into your voting power, you cant sell that 50%.
So, while you can "manipulate" it via buying steem, this same fact also rules out the use of votebots. You cant just create hundrets of accounts.
And many votes very soon will decrease your voting power, so even then you cant just go around and downvote a lot at near full power.

I don't think DTube will ever surpass YouTube but I surely hope they make some waves and give those censoring bastards a run for their money. Been following for a long time TJ, excited you now have a platform where you can go uncensored.
I'm agree with you about DTube! This is such a refreshing change of pace. The resolution quality and the upload speeds are lacking but the freedom to say whatever you want and upload whatever you want makes up for it. Also the money you can make on here is 🔥🔥🔥
Really good assessment of D.tube and Youtube. Don't want to put all your eggs in one basket but it's nice to have a place where you aren't constantly fucked for your opinion...(by fucked I meant in a way that TJ wouldn't want to be fucked. )
D.tube and Steemit really doing great job last year. In my opinion this year will be rocket to to the moon..
Nowadays the facilities provided by youtube has been narrow day by day in sense of newcomer on youtube channel so if you tell us about it genuinely than it can be turn out handy for beginner.

I really want to move my photo blog here and start making some videos but I already have problems with tags. I do LEGO builds for my blog and when I search for LEGO here I'm nowhere in the results, nowhere. But there are people there who DON'T have LEGO in their tags but just mention LEGO is the post itself. WTF? I have a tag and mention it in the posts and nothing. Weird as fuck.

Hey, I heard you mentioned a Coinbase account, just letting you know that Coinbase has huge fees, you should always use GDAX instead for waaaaay smaller fees, because it's the same site and you use the same account, but GDAX is the actual exchange with market orders, while Coinbase is just a pretty and simple instant order UI with huge fees to trap beginners who don't know better, don't let them rip you off and welcome to the world of crypto TJ, been hoping you'd join us for a while now, thanks for all the amazing content over the years!

Steemit and Dtube sounds better than Youtube I'm really curious if you will abandon Youtube as quickly as possible no real reason to support a platform that only likes to bend you over and fuck you all day long.

Shit is definitely hitting the fan over on Youtube. Many creators and I do mean many are looking for a way out. So far Dtube seems like it might be it. To compete with youtube you need massive bandwidth and storage which would cost billions just to setup, and then billions just to maintain. Not something an ordinary Joe is going to do. So Dtube or something similar seems to be the answer, but you make a LOT of good points in this video. There needs to be some control. I'm all about freedom but for a platform to succeed it does have to have some standards.
This is just like YouTube 2.0! I might end up ditching YouTube altogether if enough content creators migrate over here.

At the very least this platform is an interesting experiment. YouTube has pretty remained the monolithic undisputed giant for too long, even if this site fails, should it draw enough attention it may provoke a strategy change among the inept youtube team.
I watched the video and what I can say is with time DTube & Steemit will improve, we on this platform know of the flaws with it but we know youtube has its own flaws to deal with no platform is perfect but yeah DTube & Steemit is the future.
If more big youtubers like you @tjkirk get the word out on other social medias about steemit & DTube then this platform will success where youtube failed and in closeing I don't want youtube to fail. Im not like that but if there is a viable competitor in town it would soon clean its act up and I think dTube a viable competitor. The steemit Community would welcome the youtube community I am sure of that since I see that this community is friendly to new comers
I think what it comes down to simple - YouTube is going in the wrong direction, while DTube is going in the right direction. If we can overcome to massive numbers advantage that YouTube has, we can be very successful here.
