Kiwi In Moscow (HD) - Episode 1 - Learning To Co-operate. Hosted by Suzie Dawson

in #dtube7 years ago (edited)

Russia, Russia, Russia. It's all we hear about these days. But what is Moscow really like in this day and age? Suzie Dawson, activist, journalist and leader of the Internet Party of New Zealand, takes you on a tour around Moscow, along with her best friend, tour guide Ksenia Terenteva.

Hey everyone!

Since Russia is incessantly bandied about in the news cycle by people who have never been here and probably never will, I figured its timely to take the opportunity to show people what Moscow is really like.

Kiwi In Moscow is a web series I started in 2017 which I intend to continue in 2018. In it, my best friend Ksenia and I tour around different locations in the city to show people what Moscow is really like, because it is absolutely nothing like it is depicted to be in the West.

Each episode has a different theme, features different places, people and activities, and has an interview component in each.

In the first episode the theme is food and co-operative businesses. We visit Revolution Square, the Bolshoi Theatre, Petrovka Boulevard, Lavka Lavka (an amazing organic co-operative restaurant), the Moscow Museum of Modern Art and the monuments to the victims of Soviet repression, before heading home for me to interview Richard D. Bartlett, one of the co-founders of New Zealand's most well-known tech co-operative, Loomio.

Would love to hear your feedback and know what you think. Do you like what you see? Is it what you expected?
The next episode gets even better, but because they take me a long time to produce, I'll probably only be posting one per month after that.

Enjoy!

The problem with the US is,the citizens basically isolated from the outside world by their media (unless they listen to the alternative, independent channels). They judge others based on false narratives painted by the biased mainstream news sources and don't even have the ability of critical thinking.Best example is one of my friends, who spent 2 weeks in Germany last summer. He came home and I asked him how was it,how did he like it? He literally said "man....we live in a fuck*ng bubble"

Bravo on your impressive progress on Steemit!

Interesting. Co-ops in Moscow and New Zealand. I've never thought about that before.

Thanks a lot for sharing your valuable post....
Carry on next
Best of luck..
I will still wait for your next post....

We keep hearing the narrative that there's no free speech, at least that opposing Putin, allowed in Russia. I think debunking that theory would shame those who have never set foot in Russia. Can you document protests by Navalny supporters, or show that Russia doesn't ban internet activity? Russia is a free, democratic society, and the West should know.

nice post :) I encourage you to vote and comment, I will also vote and comment on your profile :) @synekto and @adikuala and @mfadli

all the best

Great dtube dear..I appreciate your post.thanks for sharing..Best of luck...

Amazing, I was also in Moscow a few times, it's the biggest city that I've visited, it's so huge and nice and you feel there save and happy. ☺ I am living now in the south of Russia in Rostov-on-Done , we have here Rostov Arena the stadium build for the FIFA WORLD CUP 2018 and it can fit thousands of people, you are really welcome to Rostov, I can show you here the city and tell you a lot of facts about Russia, if you want you can contact me on facebook, I am half Algerian and half Russian living here for more than 7 years, you can even visit us with your firend Ksenia. Senouci.

It will be fun to record a video together and share it on dtube or steemit. ☺

There are so many places you have been to....it is amazing....and the best part is you are capturing each n every bit of it....memories that will stay alive forever......it is perfect what i wud have done......sayonara...

Finally managed to view the video. Simply too much for the squeezed cellphone tubes that connect me to the net.

One thing that caucht my eye is the absence of billboard pollution, iv'e seen a few, but it still seems acceptable compared to the billboard jungle here in 'the west'

What temperatures do you have there? It seems very mild for this time of year.

I actually liked the last part of the video most. The part of 'how to make sure that nobody get's left behind in a non hierarchical society'
specially people with health issues. This is just way to often not being though about.

BTW The both of you could travel the world and show us how facial recognition systems can be fooled. :-D

Looking forward to the next episode.

And some music I dug up for you to use in a next episode:

I'm sure they don't mind some extra exposure even as the copyright police may say otherwise.
