Welcome to the Steem Sister Show!
Your hosts are @coruscate and @maryjaney - two sisters bringing fun content to the Steem blockchain.
Topic of this Episode – Porn (Part 1)
You probably didn't think SSS would ever go here did ya? Well here we are chatting about porn and it actually ended up being a great topic of conversation! We had all sorts of interesting, thoughtful and comical conversations on this topic. For this particular week - we gave people the option to submit questions anonymously, and so that's why you'll see that listed below!
Here are the questions we answered in this episode:
General thoughts on the porn industry and porn itself
Anonymous listener question - Do girls watch porn? Is it healthy to watch porn, or is it a disease and how do you know?
In what ways can porn harm a relationship? How about help it?
What is the Steem Sister Show All About?
We aim to bring more “non-crypto” related content to the Steem Blockchain. Although there is nothing wrong with this kind of content (@coruscate even posts on crypto related material sometimes) – we want to help create a better onboarding experience for new users. We talk a lot about attracting new users to the platform – but if the trending page is filled with crypto posts and flagging wars, they are likely to lose interest quickly.
We hope that by creating content that is more similar to what they are used to seeing on other social media sites – they will feel more excited about being here and creating content of their own!
How Does It Work?
We pick a different theme every week, and then throw totally random questions about that topic in a hat and go back and forth. We always have a mix of our own questions and some audience questions. Our rule is that we cannot tell each other our answers before filming! So you guys are getting our raw, unfiltered reactions here.
Every episode we announce the next week’s topic so people can submit questions.
Want to win some Steem??
If we chose to answer your question in the next show… we will send you 2 Steem!
The Next Topic: Discovering Yourself
No, this is not an extension on our porn week. 😂We thought this would be a fun topic to discuss because Mary is in the middle of the classic mid-20's crisis of trying to figure out "what to do with your life", and I just turned 30 and am feeling ready to hit the ground running and make stuff happen.
We'd love to get your questions on finding your purpose, things you love and how to craft that all into a life you are excited about.
So send us your questions on "Discovering Yourself". If we choose your question - we'll send you 2 steem.
That’s a Wrap!
We hope you guys enjoyed this episode! It was actually refreshing to have some intelligent and sometimes comical conversations about porn - because it's a topic that just doesn't get openly discussed in our culture very often.Come back in a few days for even more interesting conversations about porn in Part 2!

It's an important topic to talk about.
Probably the one 'industry' that cld benefit more from decentralisation and blockchain than anything else!
Although tbh I think porn is possibly one of the most mutually disempowering things out there - for both the average producer and consumer.
It's like 'man vs food' presented as usual.

Sorry i'm so late to respond... but I just wanted to say thanks for the thoughtful response on our show! I agree that the porn industry could use a good dose of decentralization to make sure the people working in the industry have transparency of wages etc.
Thanks again for checking out our show this week! ♥️
Hey thanks! I like yer shows!

Well i think you are a bit wrong on the 30ties and making it happen. Watch from 9.42
😉 it is a brave but normal subject others say it is the new meditation. The 'like' word is very countable and funny I like it. 😝I feel also you deserve a lot bigger audience and be awarded by YouTube for it because the continuity it goes on and on and on without rambling stupid stuff that's great. 😊 I am surprised you didn't get those bonuses from youtube yet.
Good job. 😊

Thanks for the video - i'll check it out! thanks for your kind words too! We've always focused on the Steem community and made YouTube more of an afterthought - but with the steem community being so small right now... I am wondering if we should do more to attract more viewers from YouTube.
Thanks for the support and encouragement!
Did someone mention Porn ?
You should have used the tag "porn" in this post to get Porn tokens.
One of the oldest professions in the world and is at the brink of being extinguished by the powers that be as more sex workers can't find a way to make a living in it.
I think it's safe to say girls do watch porn and it's perfectly healthy to watch it. Porn addiction is a real addiction.
It can do either it depends on how each couple treats their relationship with porn in general.
Good show by the way and its a fun topic to poke around on.
Thanks so much for the thoughtful reply and for re-steeming our episode! ♥️
Totally agree on your points that porn addiction is a real thing - but that doesn't mean porn is inherently bad. It's now the substance that is at fault... but how it is used!
We had a lot of fun chatting about this subject and wanted to thank you and the Dporn community for your support this week!
Young ladies! I'm shocked!
And impressed, and curious and surprised!
Well done on going there... I haven't watched yet, but I have so many opinions on the industry, so I can't wait to see your take! Well done!
Haha thanks! I’ve been asking Mary if we could do this topic for a long time and she finally caved. 😂
I agree with so much in this episode!
I think the working conditions are a real problem... Rashida Jones (Anne from Parks and Rec) has a really interesting series of documentaries about girls who earn really well for their first few videos, but then really struggle, and have to go down a really dark path just to continue earning (most of whom have lost their support networks, in a new city, etc).
I'm kind of disappointed that porn is even a thing... I feel like if we weren't so scared of our bodies and sex, and if society didn't freak out over the nipples of 50% of the population (but not the other 50%) then porn wouldn't be the massive industry that it is.
Totally agree on the lack of story-telling and in-your-faceness... my partner and I once bought a whole porn movie to watch together and it was so ridiculous, and the people looked bizarre that it made us laugh and killed any possible mood. Personally a hot scene in a normal movie is more impactful than any actual porn.
I really worry about what a whole internet full of porn does to younger generations. I've read articles about how teenage girls are more likely to perform hardcore sex acts before they get their first kiss now, but crazy porn gets normalised and teenage boys don't know any different... but I don't hang with teenagers, so I don't really have any insight here. I might be worrying for nothing.
The main thing I disagree with is Mary's point about deleting this if you get famous... firstly, there's no 'if' and secondly, we need actual real celebrities with real thoughts about a range of topics... so I hope when you get famous, your fans can find this video and love you both even more.
Thanks for tackling such a taboo topic! So good!!
My question for the next show is....
"Do you think everyone has a purpose?"
I feel so strongly in my own life about the things I want to achieve, but I know so many people that just kind of : work -> watch TV -> work -> go on holidays -> work, repeat... which I have no problems with at all, but it seems like lots of people either don't have, or don't know their purpose.
I think this is such a great question!! Can't wait to discuss it when we film today. 😃
I don't think that's the reason why porn exists. Porn has always existed. It's all about visual and auditory superstimuli. It's to the sex drive what high-fructose corn syrup is to hunger: a highly processed and somewhat unhealthy way to satisfy our urges. Neither is good for anybody in large doses.
There has never been and never will be a sextopia where everyone is satisfied. The reality of sex can be a pretty harsh place fraught with vast range of difficulties and problems. Porn and its use will always range from the harmless and fun to the pathological. But you're right in that the ubiquity of audiovisual material in our world warrants educating people and the youth in particular much better on the perils of too much porn use.
Oh man... the moment someone invents a high-fructose corn syrup aphrodisiac....
You know, I think you're right. I was thinking that other countries that have far less hang ups about sex than the US probably don't have as nearly a big porn industry. Japan is pretty repressed sexually, and that seems to come out in all sorts of unusual ways.... but you're right in that even countries that are quite liberal and open about sexuality still have some sort of porn industry.
Love, love, love all the thoughtful remarks in this comment! Porn really is a complicated topic and one that is so personalized to each person's experience.
Sorry I'm responding so late... but I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed hearing all your thoughts on this!! You could seriously be a third co-host in this show because you always bring such a good perspective! Too bad Portland and Bellingham are a little too far away to get together to film every week. hahah
Well, my wife has watched porn and being very open about her tastes since the day I met her.
So I’m not at all surprised that the ladies don’t mind throwing a little fun time video on every once in a while.

Sorry about making this about crypto again but DPorn is the perfect marriage between porn and Steem. I think it has a lot of potential to make porn much more rewarding for content creators and consumers. When you consume porn on mainstream websites, you're nothing but a passive consumer with little to no influence over anything. But suppose you buy PORN tokens. Now you can be a curator and earn PORN while you consume content and upvote it. Suddenly you have influence over what porn gets made because you decide partly what the content creators publish. When you're a porn curator, you can talk to the content creators and be taken seriously. If you're a content creator, you can stake your earnings and become a curator yourself. Every curator is also an investor reducing the supply of the token. It's an economic system that has potential to empower every participant. Also, as an investor you can stake your earnings and curate to exert your influence. All everyone needs is to buy and stake some STEEM to be able to use the Steem blockchain. This is something completely novel.
I am a huge fan of @dporn and I love what they are doing to try and revolutionize the space. Maybe i'll have to feature them as a project review on my new YouTube channel... 🤔
Thanks for leaving such thoughtful replies on our show!
Just in time for @dporn!

For 25 years, Randy Spears (real name Gregory Patrick) was the most successful male porn star of all time, but he became plagued by shame, guilt, drugs, alcohol, and depression.
What this guy has done doesn't even register compared to what some engineer working in the arms industry does. Those products need politicians willing to use them or turn a blind eye to them being used in conflict zones. I'm sure there are countless devout Christians proud of their work in those sectors.
The hypocrisy blows the mind. The porn industry produces material that helps people get off sexually while the only purpose of weapons is to kill and maim people.
Hello. I think I buried this comment deep enough that no one but you will see this. I hope you are well. I created a curation account on PORN. There are passive and good returns on those who delegate their porn. I wrote a post here: https://www.dporn.co/porn/@pacificocean/pacific-ocean-porn-curator-at-your-service
