On September 7, Mount Sinabung metelus again. This is the biggest eruption since this mountain became active on August 29, 2010. This eruption sound was heard up to a distance of 8 kilometers. This volcanic dust is sprayed up to 5,000 meters in the air.

On September 17, 2013, there were 2 eruptions in the afternoon and evening. [15] This eruption releases hot clouds and volcanic ash. There are no previous signs of increased activity so there is no prior warning. Ash rain reaches the Sibolangit and Berastagi areas. There were no fatalities reported, but thousands of residents of surrounding settlements were forced to flee to safe areas.

As a result of this event, the status of Mount Sinabung was raised to level 3 to Standby. After a fairly high activity for several days, on September 29, 2013 the status was reduced to level 2, Alert. However, activities do not stop and conditions fluctuate.

[20] Starting on January 4, 2014 a series of earthquakes, eruptions and hot clouds continued until the following day. This forced additional residents to evacuate, to more than 20 thousand people.

After this condition persisted, in the last week of January 2014 the condition of Mount Sinabung began to stabilize and it was planned that refugees from outside the danger radius (5 km) could be returned. However, a day later 14 people were found dead and 3 people were injured by a hot cloud glide while approaching Suka Meriah Village, Payung District [23] which was in the danger zone I.
