I’ve had people take a look at my followers and laugh thinking that because I don’t have the biggest fanbase in the world I am either unsuccessful or not competent. However, when I can make great money doing what I love, I would tell anyone to turn that negative outlook into one of inspiration. If this person you don’t feel is “famous” or “successful” in terms of social recognition can do the things they want and excel in their niche then so can you.
Turn disdain and envy into motivation and inspiration so you can win! Getting twisted over someone’s likes or follower count will do you no good while pursuing your passion will bring your lifelong fulfillment!

If people get into this type of thing for making money, then I agree that a person is better off flipping burgers at a fast food joint. If you are trying to get into a field like you are, there is nothing better than the experience and the feedback you get from your audience that allows you to make tweaks to perfecting your craft. I have only followed you for about a month now on Minds and here, but I can bet your videos have increased in quality from your first one when you started, and that is worth a LOT more that paying someone in a school to teach you. I want nothing to do with Google and don't have a YouTube account, the videos I do would thrive in the YouTube arena because of the size of the audience and the search feature they have, but I think Google is pure evil and will never support them even though it would be better for my own exposure. I am just doing this as a hobby and don't care about making money from it. I have a career already. I don't do this for others as much as I do it for myself. I appreciate the fact that you are not concerned about what others think about you online, because as we both know 50% of the people online are Trolls and people that just look for a reaction from others. Do what you do for yourself and the other 50% will fine you and appreciate what you have produced for them at no cost to them. Hopefully over time if you stay at it, you can grow that audience and get donations, advertisements and offers. More power to you Scott.
Yeah totally, as someone who went to university for four years I'd still not recommend anyone else go outside of STEM and that pursuing what you love your own way is usually the best route. I will definitely keep at it, thanks for your response! :)

I think from a bloggers perspective it's much harder to write and see no response then it is to see you made a penny or two. Writing takes a whole lot more time and effort then copying and pasting articles on a news forum for discussion. So it's hard to sit and pour out your heart on an article with no response. Yes maybe over time you can accumulate followers but it's a whole lot harder to do when you are on a site that you are worth nothing in a up vote to them. Those who initially during that time do decide to follow you like what you write, there's some consolation in that, once you happen to become worth something in a up vote it's questionable as to their motivation to follow you, they may not even like what you write it may just be a monetary motivation. It sort of really weird because it would basically amount to being no different then if someone was rewarded for buying a product they didn't like as long as they were coming out ahead. I don't remember exactly how I came upon seeing your stuff but something must have caught my attention that seemed interesting obviously, I click on, listen but there's no engagement. I follow to see where it leads, maybe about fifty percent of the stuff I have a genuine interest in, finally I decide to drop a line here or there...it's not like I am expecting an upvote or response from other people commenting on post on this site and even more likely I won't get noticed by the person posting the article so if I end up talking to myself on here who cares right?....surprisingly though you do follow up and I give you kudos for that. I guess there's no set rhythm, reason or logic why I follow anyone, it could start out as something quirky they said, maybe they have a humorous demeanor or it's just I think they have quality output worth following them looking for those gems of interest that get me to click.
I wholeheartedly agree with you. It should be about the passion, the art, the love for what you're doing not the money. I do see value in both feedback and monetary incentive (more than a penny) simply because content creators are given hope when they know they can potentially pay the bills with their hard work and that gives them motivation (or at least for me) to make more knowing that I shift time focus away from career and not financially suffer for it. Of course, the greatest part about creating content is ineracting with the people that consume it. I try really hard to get back to everyioine and value their feedback. I really appreciate you checking out my stuff and leaving such indepth and thoughtful comments by the way. Cheers :)
