Me Learning Xhosa,The language used in Black Panther, Because Wakanda!.

The black panther movie has an interesting language that some of you might think is not real. I mean all that clicking sounds too good to be an actual language right? Well it is in-fact very real, it's called isiXHOSA. Its spoken by almost 19 million people, recognized as one of the 11 official languages in South Africa, in other words, its spoken by 18% of South Africa's population, Nelson Mandela was Xhosa and spoke it fluently, amazing right?

its known as the "click language", therefore in order to pronounce the X in Xhosa, you have to put your tongue to the roof of your mouth and then make a clicking noise..very interesting indeed.
It’s also very difficult to learn, but fortunately for me, my dear friend and business partner @cheft is Xhosa and i had the privilege of her teaching me how to pronounce the basics.. this wasn't easy at all, but was very fun and worth the try. By the way, my friend's real name is "THOKO" , and i still don't know how to pronounce it, so i just say T.
make sure to watch this video, laugh if you have to and try learning the pronunciations yourself, I'm sure it will be fun.

Good luck and thanks for passing by.

yours truly,
Maggie

Woah. Are the words similar to the language you are used to? Like how some english words are similar to tagalog and bisaya words? Or is it a whole new dialect all together?

It was cool hearing Xhosa in Black panther I still have no idea how they get the click as part of the word I tried even with just saying T'challa's name with the click is hard!! 😅

i dont think T'challa is xhosa though, hahaha ..The continent Africa is very diverse, same with ASIA. A mix and blend of too many different yet beautiful cultures.

the pronounciation of xhosa is soo different from my local dialect. i had difficulties as u can hear in the video..
