Way to break it down! i have been t3elling folks for years to look for the self interest in other's (and our own) actions and not trust what is not transparently explained in this way, to see through the smokescreens to the ulterior motives,,, Love the way you framed this concept as "simple economics"... i would go so far as to say what you are advocating here is rather "complex economics", the economics of emotional value...
