Welcome to Steem

Wow!!! This is an amazing guide. Nice one

Glad it helped, keep steemin'!

I support and like your post, good one.

once again thanks @maneki-neko for this helpful video, especially to us minnows in this community. your past videos really gave me insights on what to do in this platform. have a great day ahead

Thank you, friend!

@maneki-neko, if you don't mind me asking, can you recommend me where to study or learn the code for formatting style? headers, font size, designs, graphics. i still don't know how and my posts are all plain texts. thanks.

Easiest way for me is busy.org !

thanks @maneki-neko. this is huge help for me.

Im new on here and to be honest this gave me some good information about steem thanks !

This is freaking awesome dude!! I will definitely remember this video and link to it in one my ones because this is really in depth!

I totally agree with you on building relationships and that there is no other social network out there where you can make as good friends as on this one.

The truth is that I'm totally addicted now to this!

The only thing what you could have mentioned and explained is the difference between steem and steem dollars, but otherwise, just amazing! For newbies recommended :)

Winny out...for now ;)

Thanks, yeah i am trying to keep this video below 30 minutes, i dont want people to get bed sores while watching it, you know?

this is why I would like a summary in text-form, reading is so much faster and enables to skip the topics you think you already know enough about.. just my opinion :)

Ok, heard! For me typing is a serious chore sometimes, but a guys just gotta roll up his sleeves sometimes, huh?

This is a great content! Thank you for this helpful tips.

My pleasure! Thanks for being here!

Again a great video, thank you! I'm always happy when you're releasing new content. I'm happy you were one of the first persons who contacted me on steemit, otherwise I don't know if I would have find you by now^^

Happy to see you here @liveyourdream !

Brand new minnow here. What a great video, I particularly like the brick wall metaphor. This video is a serious block of marble. Thank you for taking the time to explain the quality based focus of the Steem concept.

Thank you for the totally relevant compliment!

This video helped us a lot with getting started on Steemit earlier in the week, it was actually the first video we saw on DTube. Thanks a lot @maneki-neko, the Fortune Cat beckons you!

This is my updated version: I will do this as a series every week and try to keep making it better and better.

Great to know that you are doing your part for the Steemit community! And that's why we follow you.

I just watched your video and it helps me a lot. Thank you for making the video. Just wondering, what do you call to the people who use steemit? is it minnow?

In order of how much steem power you have: plankton, minnow, guppy, dolphin, whale, megawhale :)

Awesome content, Thank you!

thanks, @maneki-neko i have watched your orientation video and it is very informative especially for the new comers including me, i have learn alot on what i should do and not do thanks again for this video.

Lot of thanks dear sharing this amazing post.

Your video was of outmost help to me. An easy way of knowing my way around the community, thanks for giving us newbies a guide. I'll be looking forward to watching more of your videos.

Thank you for this wonderful video, I wish I had this when I started. But it is better late than never, I learnt a thing or two from you today. Thanks so much

Thank you, thank you, thank you, I have been trying to figure out the out the voting thing and you just answered it and so much more .

thanks for your help, I am new here and your post will save me lot of stress.

It took three minutes just to get to the part where he said welcome, welcome, welcome. It would have just been faster if you'd typed out his hints and gave him credit for it. I'll never know what they were, I don't have the patience for that.

Umm. I say 'Welcome welcome welcome' at the 0:17 mark. How is me typing it instead of making a video for you going to save you time?

.....because the video freezes up while playing....I guess there's a term for that I don't know what it is.

Ah I see, well dtube is still growing - maybe refresh the page at a later time, or better wifi area? Sorry about that.

The content is great! A newbie here.

Thank you for this "Steem For Dummies" , or rather, Steem nubians... Very helpful, informative and encouraging... Grateful to you for taking the time, making the effort and for your Tubeside manner... Way to lead by example!

this is really cool thank you

Thank you, this is so helpful 😍

why the 'music' tag?

Because I made the original music in the background, which also takes a lot of effort, so I like to promote that as well. :)

Nice job explaining the platform. If I understand correctly a new user has 10 (non-weighted) votes a day max. In other words if I go several days without voting, the votes are not cumulative. For example upon returning from several absent days, I just have the 10 votes. Once I deplete the votes, it takes 24 hours to get back the voting power. It appears that as you build your rep by adding value that your votes have a greater influence, and you can weight the votes effectively giving you more total votes.

I think the idea is to keep things organic with the goal of good content gaining the most influence. As a new user I wonder about several aspects, but as you said it is new technology and it is evolving. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds.

-Thanks for the post!

Well, your voting bar recharges 20% each day and 20% is 10 votes... So if you havent been on for a week you can cast 10 votes at full weight that will be recharged the next day, or 50 votes that will be recharged in 5. But each vote gets successively weaker..
Once your rep goes up, your vote will have a greater affect on others rep, and you get a slider controlling vote weight at about 500 Steem Power.

this helped me a lot. I still dont quite understand what to do with steem dollars, vs steem withdrawls etc. Do i take my small steem payouts and reinvest it or put into savings. so confused with all of that. So far i just really enjoy posting and leaving good comments. Would love to understand what im supposed to do with the money that is being made...

I think that will be the topic of todays video, but basically you want to go to in your wallet next to steem dollars, click market. Then you will find steemit internal market. There on the left side you will be able to sell your SBDs for Steem. Just type in how many SBDs you want to sell and sell them, youll have to enter your master password for this though. Then back in your wallet, next to steem, you want to go to power up, again enter your password. I hope this hleped or wait for the video :)

unfortunately I am still a NOOB here, and what you typed sounds like Chinese to me. lol... I can't see to really understand what to do with Steem, Steem Dollars, or should I use my steem money to buy steam power, or use it to put into savings of steem etc. Im so confused as to how the allocation of all of these work... I would love someone to write out an easy flow diagram explaining to us NOOBS what to do. I post a couple a times a day, then comment a few, I recieve light nibbles of steem each week that I then can't figure out to I redistribute them into steem dollars? steam power? or put into savings. its so confusing. like what a strange and difficult model to understand. As a new user I would love to know what I need to do or how to allocate this.

Check my most recent video, hopefully it helps you.

Wow, this information is extremely useful. I'm new to the Steem platform. I really liked your analogy of the Steem Blockchain to a brick wall as well as the inspiration you gave to keep up the integrity. Still much I have to learn on this platform but I could not have asked for a better introduction video.

thanks for commenting on my post and leading me to this very informative video! I would not have know alot of these facts if it weren't for you

interesting match,, awesome theme of post,, lovely,, thanks for this good posting,, also interesting , i am new, and i am fallowing you hope you also will viisit me to guide me , thanks for this post. super photography

I enjoyed it.

Thank you so much for this :) Really - I've been fumbling around not really knowing what's going on at all... I joined maybe 6 months ago, wrote a bit of an aimless post about "i don't know what to talk about" and promptly left again to try to build a youtube channel. But I've got into binge buying cryptos like a lot of other people and, really, the capitalist pig in me is wondering how I can make money off this... BUT, I just listened to you talking about your 'own private magazine' and it reminded me how much i used to love that. I always wanted a magazine, but it was one of those things you couldn't really do unless you were into schmooozing and selling advertising space and all that, and I couldn't face that stuff, but about 15 years ago, i built a little hobby website about the fishing town i used to live in, and on that site, i started something called a 'web log' :) I still hadn't worked out the abbreviation to 'blog' - it was a while ago. I loved that blog. i loved the whole site - i could write and take photos and it was just freedom. It actually did well and became a small business, but i had to travel and leave it a bit behind, and started doing other stuff. Not good really. Over the last year, i got myself a camera again, but now the cameras can do video better than the pro ones could 15 years ago. So I've been making videos about trading (as i joined a trading site and they were relatively easy videos to make. Listening to you and your magazine comments though, maybe i can use this place for some of my more personal videos. For more creative stuff, or not even that, just more personal stuff. Thanks - that's a nice thought :)

Haha I think this is your first comment!

Yeah, this was the first one :) I'll get there in the end !

arrggghhhhh. I just replied at length and hit the 'add comment' button by accident and it deleted my whole comment :) I'm a nooooooooooooooooob. Thanks for the video man - i used to have a blog, a long time ago, and taking photos and writing and making little pages a sections was a really freeing joy for me. I haven't done it in ages. I've been making videos on youtube for just under a year now, but nothing really very free and personal. After listening to your 'my own personal magize' comments I'm reminded of how i felt when i started my first website which was just a hobby one about the town i lived in in the South of England - a little fishing town where i lived for 9 years and eventually came to know as a really nice home. Anyhow, i left there and i've been out and about for a long time now and i miss the freedom of creating whatever you really want to create... Youtube's been good, but it's also been difficult and at times a bit soulless just making videos about one issue. Maybe I can post some other stuff here :) That's a nice thought, so thanks man. I have no idea which button to press to post this :D Here goes ...

I posted it twice :) wooooooooops. looks like i did press the right button first time .... Good Lord....

It worked!
Thanks for your thoughtful comment...please post everything your heart desires on Steem!

Thank you for stopping by my page and recommending your video, I found it really useful, especially as I am such a newbie! It's exciting times isn't it, I can't wait to see what gets built!

I cant comment

Lol you just did!

This such a great video especially for us newbies.
It is really informative 😊

Ok, i am new and watched a few orientation videos, but i have to say this one was the easiest to understand, the brickwall metaphor was good, too.
Thanks.

This video is just what I needed! I'm a newbie and it's hard for me to explain to my friends what steemit is. I will send it to them right now.

I learn a lot man, thank you.. newbie here

Hello fellow Steemian .. I'm a newbie here. Please support me by following my blogs and I will follow yours as well . Hope we can be good friends.. Please check my introductory post. Thank you. Lovelots

This is a fantastic video! You explain everything very well and I like how you combine technical part together with the functional part. Thank you for putting your time int making this, I am sure it will come in handy to many of the new users! :)

Thanks. You helped clarify a few concepts for me with understanding voter power and recharging. All best.

Wow!!! What a video!!! I actually wanted to see the first few minutes of this video but i ended up watching the whole 33 mins. It is a great guide video. I've learnt spaming comments are not helpful. I've done that twice already. Won't try it no more. Thanks for your help big bro

Thank you for this video, it was very helpful for those of us just starting out!

Thanks! I really liked your analogy with the brick wall.

thank you dear @maneki-neko ! As you recommented it to me, it was very helpfull :)

If Dtube wants to be the #1 contender, I would fix the search feature. Google is not gonna play nice when searching for hits on their platform
