RE: Does Finding Your Purpose In Life Have To Be So Difficult?

in #dtube7 years ago

I do feel like we all have a purpose in life, and it's not just one thing. Life is purpose enough (as @everittdmickey says), but I feel like the entire journey is purposeful AND we each have specific purpose within that journey. Too many people see their purpose as a destination, but perhaps it's just about being purposeful along the way. I do understand the cultural push for conformity; as a high school teacher I watched seniors struggle with their purpose and passion compared to their parent's vision of what they were 'supposed' to do. Did I mention it was at a Fine Arts school? So these kids were artists, musicians, dancers, actors etc. (and many were exceptional and have gone onto mainstream, successful careers). Suddenly, at the end of high school, they were expected to choose a career that would make them money, not fulfil their passion and daydreams (parents' words not mine). My advice always was to follow their heart, follow their passion, follow their own minds; life is way too short to be doing something you despise. In fact, life will feel way too long if that's the path you follow. Cheers!

It's funny how artists of all kinds make the world go around with entertainment but are some of the most shunned people in society. I don't get that. Artists bring life to people's lives everyday.

I know the feeling of giving up on your passion. I was there. I did it for a while. And I was completely dying on the inside. It made me very depressed and suicidal. I finally have taken my time and my life back and now I am using what I have and what I love to do to make the biggest impact in the lives of others.

I'm glad you made the choice you did!! It's interesting when you get out of something like that and look back, it's hard to understand why it took so long!

I must tell you that I thoroughly enjoy your/our conversations on here! Thank you!
