thanks for the support! I'm really glad our paths ended up crossing in such a weird way when i came back to steemit! I'm not sure we had ever even actually talked to each other before I left! As far as I can tell the only two ways to actually get bitcoin into a US bank account is to use either coinbase or gemini (another exchange); Both places are experiencing high volume and so there is nothing I can do to actually get the $ currently. Plus, now that Bitcoin decided to normalize the value of what I thought I had has decreased significantly, so who knows what will end up happening with that.
